Default Your not so favourite breed.

I know that you should never have a breed that you don't like so much, but most if not all don't like a certain breed or type of dog, and I thought that we could start a thread just to write about the personal reasons that people don't like a certain breed or type from their own personal experiences or beliefs, without things from the media if possible, just so that we could all explain our choices, and learn more about the dogs that we don't like, not start a argument or to hound people of a certain breed, just to learn more when possible, as most people will dislike a certain breed without fully knowing the breed, so here people who have or like them type of breeds can explain to the people who don't like them what is so good about them, and educate me and others about that breed, and maybe change their mind a bit with some gentle education without getting dirty.

I'll go first, I have to admit that I don't like flat faced breeds with a undershot jaw, like the British bulldog and pug, I just feel like especially with the bulldog if they can't breed on their own then they shouldn't be bred, and with the undershot jaw, although I lived with a shih tzu with one, I just don't like it, but that is me being superficial more then anything else, as the dogs would live with it daily and are use to it, but I do like a scissor bite if I'm honest, I also feel with the flat faced dogs, that as they wouldn't be able to get the same amout of air in each breath like dog the same size but with a longer muzzle would, then they wouldn't be able to get the same enjoyment and running around as they would over heat easier, which if you have a dog like the Pek for example or know of any then really do correct me, as I do want to not like them as much as other dogs for something that is wrong, if you get what I mean and also I like a dog that if given the chance could run all day, like mine can, they can be lazy inside the house, but come alive outside, I really do love to see a dog run and play.

Exactly the same here. After fostering the two JRT puppies, I have learnt my lesson. They are stubborn, far too energetic and very snappy and highly strung. Terriers are a no go area for me im afraid.

Neither Terriers, toys, or dogs with smooshed up faces would be my deliberate choice for a pet. Toys since I don't want a dog that's excessively needy, always underfoot or in the lap. Terriers for their tenacity, and short faces for the obvious reasons.

My preference is a medium sized dog I can touch without bending over, not likely to be dog aggressive, short hair and easy to train. One that can be full of energy and playful, yet calm when necessary. Gee, could I possibly be describing a GSP?

Hmmm....this one is tough for me. I really don't like Chis, or Rat Terriers. Had a few JRTs I've fostered that were nice, & one that tried to kill me....so I'm on the fence on them. LOL

I am not found of most hunting dogs ( just not my thing).. chi's been bitten by many but I blame the owners not the dog ... Did not like small dogs till one picked me , I now have a healthy respect for them as I have been owned for nearly 8 yrs by a yorkie ...

I don't really dislike any breed but I would never ever have a staffie.
My Ailsa who was everything to me was killed by one of my sisters staffies nearly two years ago. there was no warning the thing just went up to her and bit her once on the skull and she was gone, the thing has gone on to have major problems with small dogs and it's never walked without a muzzle nor is it allowed of lead. My sister did ask if I wanted it p.t.s. but I said no ( I wish I had ), if I see a staffie coming I give it a wide berth there is no way I will ever allow any dog I have to socialise with them, I just won't take that chance. I do like staffies and think they're the daftest of dogs I just don't trust them.

thanks for everyone's honesty like I said I think that everyone has a breed that they don't like as much as other breeds for some reason or another whether its bad experiences with the breed, for me superficial on dogs with under shot jaw, or whether you just don't like how the dogs are put together, I know that there are people who don't like dogs like mine, but I don't really care about that, all I can say is why I love them, and how to me they are the best dogs ever, not everyone is going to like the same things, and thats why we have so much diversity in the world of everything.

Jack Russells I'm afraid. Sorry to any on here who has one, but I have met so many snappy, spiteful ones over the years.
