Give them time, they'll work it out.

Unless you intend on forcing it by holding the bitch still as I know some breeders do, then I think letting them work it out is the best idea.

Watch them carefully though, my dad had a rough collie dog whose face was permanently scarred by his bitch when he tried to mount her, even though she'd been encouraging him to begin with

The best thing to do would be to contact your mentor and have him/her evaluate the situation. She may not be quite ready or at 15 days she may be past the point of being receptive.

Either way, as suggested don't leave them unattended. I'm sure you wouldn't want either of them to be injured.

You maybe should of tried her the tenth day of cycle with a young female?
She could be going out, but I breed late into the cycles and feel the litters are better uniformed as I like them. I used to breed early scared they might slip out, they should not as heat cycle lasts 21 days, last week of going out is week of breeding and conception.

Sometimes we have had to hold the new female being scared of what is going to happen, she is more comfortable with somebody she knows. We hold the female steady and that sure has helped, I do not believe in raping a female as alot of breeders do.

I would not wait much longer to get her bred if you serious about it.....

thanks everyone, never had any 'problems' before, suppose im a little over anxious, what will be will be,definately dont want to force her,but might try holding her steady to calm her as suggested, its been awhile since i last bred, over 8 years ago,my brindle english bull produced some beautiful pups which must of sparked a female 'thing' as i then had two of my own beautiful pups! my brindle girl died sadly 3 years ago at the ripe old age of 12,and so patiently waited until time was right to start again this time with my babies Buster and Maggie, gorgeous purebred white english, the most handsome dogs in the land of course!!! well, lots of advice on the net some of which is contradictory but some helpful, wish me luck

well, its day 16 in my bitches heat, lots of flagging but no 'action',researched info on net and now im really confused, there seems to be a lot of vets, breeders etc saying thumb rule is 21 day cycle,7 cmin in heat,7 days in heat,7 out ,which means we've missed it,some professionals are saying its when the bleeding STOPS and goes clear she will accept the male, arrrrggghhhh which is it,im really confused

my bitches aren't mated until 18-19 days.

sometimes if a dog and bitch are house mates they won't mate.
