Default Doberman in heat for first time!

could any one give me advice on this subject, i have a year old female doberman and she started heat 2 weeks ago then stopped after a week and started again this week but it has been very heavy. She seems to be very tired and winy too., is this normal.

when you say she stopped and started, can you elaborate? Are you talking about bleeding?

A female's heat cycle goes on for about 4 weeks, the first week they bleed and 'drip', then after the 2nd week they are fertile. There's often a clear discharge in this period, and the vulva swells up. You can check discharge by gently placing a tissue over her vulva and looking for the colour, amount of moisture etc.

There's an explanation here,

If she's bleeding again, or you have any concern get her to a vet, just in case something has gone wrong.

My collie girl's personality changes totally during her seasons, so it might just be that this is what is happening but if she's really off colour it's always worth getting her temperature etc checked.

Check with your vet as melamaphine suggested!

Your vet will know the right questions to ask and will be able to determine whether she needs to be seen or not.

A well trained dog will make no attempt to share your lunch.

He'll just make you feel guilty while you're eating it.

Females heat last 21 days later part is the breeding week. She might need her uturus checked as I sure have had problems this year with that problem in females. Call the vet as she should of dripped some second week, first week they swell only. Good luck.
