Well here goes folks.

If you could elaborate it would be really helpful.

Could we elaborate for each dog with genetic/health problems it might be less confusing.

My family have had the following

3 x Pyrenean Mountain Dogs - Hip Dysplasia was worst in the male, all three suffered with arthritis and back legs went with age, lived to around 13 years of age
5 x Mini dachshund - one with epilepsy, one riddled with cancer, 2 with back problems but all lived to a good age (2 still alive)
1 x English Springer Spaniel - Heart Murmur, many lumps of benign nature and eventually died of an enlarged heart and tumour died at approx 11-12 years old
1 x English Cocker Spaniel - born with inoperable cataracts, one eye is shrunken and she is partially sighted. Also has shrivelled toes on front feet, 6 years old now
2 x Rough Collies - nothing genetic of note in either, one died at approx 12 years old, other is 2.5 years old

I'd better add, quite a few of these were rescues so we don't have record of their breeding.

I'm confused as to the terminology. Don't mean to be dense - but I would not have thought that purebred is the same as pedigree. For example, Sophia is a purebred but has no pedigree.

Molly is a purebred, but a rescue so no certificates. I have Simba's KC papers, so I guess that's the only difference? Other than that, same thing!
