Default Barbet Anyone?

Hubby is very keen on a Barbet - anyone else got any experiences with them?

(Monkey - bet you love them!)

We want another dog - I've got my name down for an IWS puppy - but they are like 'rocking horse poo' and preference is giving to working homes. So I'm keeping my options open. I do want another water dog - or should I say a dog who loves the water - and a portugese/spanish/french water dog fills the bill.

There was an article in one of the dog magazines about the barbet and they do seem very similar to IWS in temperament. I think they are less predisposed to certain medical conditions though - which the IWS unfortunately can develop.

I hadn't heard of a Barbet either until now. They do remind me of poodles.
If you want a dog who loves water - can't go wrong with a Golden!

My gran had a golden and yes it was a lovely dog. Unfortunately I do have allergies, some identified, some idiopathic (cause not identifiable). I can present with angioedema (spontaneous swelling and wheels anywhere on my body and full on allergic reactions. I have to inject with an Epipen and then it means a trip to ER in an ambulence and that is really stressful!) That's why I have always had a non-shedding dog after my allergies were identified.

If I could have just any dog I would also own a borzoi (no disrespect to borzoi I know they are not any dog).

So although I'm really lucky to be able to have dogs in the house I couldn't tolerate a shedding dog as a permanent resident.

Thanks Boxerpups - guess what? Jake goes on the kids tramp next door.

Wish someone had a private swimming pool here in Scotland - (hubby won't pay for one he says it will cost too much to heat)
