Default Pitbull vs Boxer activity/aggression level

I adore boxers but I always get the feeling that they are extremly high strung dogs, meanwhile pitbull is a bit more laid back...

However boxer works ebtter with other dogs in general, and are less likely to go dog aggressive..

This is just the perception I have got from them..

Is that correct or are boxer equally active or???
Does anyone know?

Ive never owned a boxer before but I have owned a Pitbull in the past and they are both high energy dogs but I would have to agree that the Pitbull would be more inclined to be more dog agressive than a boxer would be.
Here is a link that explores more about it I love this site it gives you both the pros and cons of different dog breeds:

Being a Boxer owner, and not having any experience of Pitbulls... I cant compare the two,

Boxers are high energy, boisterous, dogs... I would not label them highly strung, a highly strung dog to me is a dog who lives on their nerves.

As for the aggression, any dog of any bred can become aggressive , depending on many aspects...

But generally the Boxer is a lover not a fighter

When I think of Boxers I see a dog that is high energy but not aggressive a dog that can be goofy at times too.I think of a Boxer as a perpetual puppy .Eh, maybe I'm wrong never having owned one before, but thats the impression I get .

High strung for me (that is having english as the second language) is just a very energetic dog...

I exersice mine 2-3 hours a day, obedience, mental training etc..

I just don't know if I can handle a boxer, tehy seem MORE energetic than pitbull to me..

Pitbull I can handle without an issue, and I ADORE boxer Im just wondering about their energy levels...

Ok, I have a very high energy young girl..she is 5 yrs old, she meets herself coming the other way..

Her daily routine is this..... one hr exercise in the mornings preferably off lead... she will get another 1/2 hr walk (lead walking) a in the evening..

My boy who's is 8 and has a few health problems, has the morning routine, but does not do the evening one.

As young dogs they did not ge tmuch more then this..

A general rule is a good 1 hr of lead walk a day is sufficient exercise .

Boxers DO NOT need hrs and hrs of exercise to tire them out...

It is what does into the exercise, by exercising their mind also will tire them out..i.e training...

Just like any other dog, if they ge bored they are trouble, they sleep most of the day away... after a contented walk.

What would worry me about mixing a Pit and a Boxer, specially if they are same sex... is they are both (or can be ) dog dominant breeds...if you find yourself with two dogs of a similar temperament both wishing to be top dog... and both same sex , you may find problems..

This is not to say it will happen, I know people who have same sex households, and it works fine, but many Boxer people will not keep mature intact males together...

If you do decide to go for a Boxer , go for the opposite sex to what you already have....usually makes a much easier life

Very trainable, goofy, happy dogs!.I don't consider them high-strong but they are energetic!.I find them, easier to train and less belligerant than the pittbulls!.
A male is a male, whatever the breed and should be train as such.
If you can train a pit,to be social with other dogs than the boxer should be a breeze!.
I've met 5 and they were,all, laid-back but energetic!.

oh if I ever get a boxer it will be 1. Quite a bit in the future and 2. I rather not chance on taking in two females together of such breeds.

The reason I have a rottie mix now and a pitbull is caue I found the pit on the street and my dog accepted her for once instead of just telling me she is discusting..

She actually loves the little pitbull who loves her back..

I am just checking around a bit cause the boxers I have meet is extremly high energy. but my husband is very interested in them so I am prepared to give him his breed so I can have mine too.. *lol*

Sorry, if I gave you the impression, that same sex dont work, ofcause they do... I know many people who have multiple bitch households... some with all males...but it is always Wise to be prepared.... if your present dogs are even tempered, and you do your research well... their should be no problem.

But please dont forget to make sure if you ever go down that road, to see proof of heart scores on the pups parents.

Heart problems are a major problem in our breed, and to many die to young because of unethical breeding.

Having fostered Boxer & Pit mixes.....I'd say they're about equal.

Both are stubborn spitty block heads, yet at the same time smart trainable, and wonderful dogs. I've had issues with all of them being aggressive at some point or another
