Default Whats your favorite dog breed?

Hi,
I'm just curious to know what your favorite gundog breed is. I have three top ones: Brittanys, Labradors, and Pointers. I also like Golden Retreivers. I have a Brittany, and I will probably own a Pointer at some time in my life. When I got my girl five months ago, I thought she would be hard to groom. But now that I have her, she really isn't. I just comb her, use a slicker, and give her a rub-down with a horsehair mitt. Thats why I like Britts, they are super easy to groom. She's so good in the house, you'd never know how she goes CRAZY when I let her out into her dog run! Also, what is your favorite coat color of your favorite gundog breed? Mine on the Brittany is red and white, on the Lab it's yellow, and on the Pointer it's liver and white with ticking. So tell me all!

The *Greyhound* NO contest! They are such a wonderful breed, so gentle and loving. Second is the Lurcher, if for whatever reason I couldn't have a greyhound, I'd be after a Lurcher. I've only ever owned these breeds, and I'll only ever own them in the future.

As for gundogs, I like Black Labs best, they always look so sleek and shiny. The pointer, Well I've never seen one in real life, but from pictures, I like the liver and whites too.

I like Greyhounds too. They are so tall and handsome! As for other breed groups, I like Great Danes, Standard Poodles, and American Staffordshire Terriers. Is the avatar you have a photo of your dogs? Mine isn't, just a pic from the American Kennel Club website.

My favorite sporting dogs would have to be the Vizsla and the German Shorthaired Pointer. I have had both and they are great dogs. The Vizsla has a beautiful rust colored coat.

Oh, it's a greyhound every time. Ours is just the most funny and affectionate dog in the world . .. and so lazy! He sleeps more than my husband, which is quite an accomplishment.

I have a hard time deciding among all the sporting / gun dogs. We have a Golden these days and for years hubby had Labbies. Herding dogs appeal to me. And terriers! I adored a Husky I lived with years ago too. But honestly I think I have a soft spot in my heart for mystery mixes, especially if they have floppy ears and a curly tail.

Thumbs up

Oh yes, you're quite right . . . mystery mixes are right up there with the best. Each totally unique and offering a new twist on the best parts of his or her relatives, who/whatever they may be!

I LOVE spaniels, and I can't imagine ever not having one. I've had a springer and a cocker and they have both been the most wonderful, affectionate and tolerant dogs with just the right amount of crazy. I'd find it very hard to pick a fave breed, but I guess if I had to it would be Springers.

I've always wanted a Pointer of some sorts, they're so graceful. However, I think if it came to it I'd get an English, Irish or Gordon Setter as I prefer the more hairy dogs.

My OH are in debates at the moment on the next dog, I'm rooting for a Springer but he quite fancies a Golden Retriever.

Of course I'm a huge herding breed fan too (love my collie to bits), but the above are my fave gundogs.
