Well ANY dog can snore. But Mastiff-types do tend to be droolier than others. And the Dogue does have Mastiff ancestry.

I'd be carefull with such a cross.. the ddb can be very gentle and loving, but it's also a guardy dog.. this together with a guardy akita that often has dog aggression and hard to let loose and takes tons of training to get obediant (well this is what the akita club told me when I did research they said that akita took it's owner and warned me for common traits of such) I say that this mix might end up being more than a handfull and a very stubborn one with lots of guard and aggression (IF the wrong genes hit so to say worst case scenario) on theo ther hand, when you take a mix and that rare the outcome due to outbreeding can be so far from both breeds that we can't answer on it.

DDB is big, gentle, playfull, a tad stubborn, it takes good motivation to get it working, it guards, slobberns and belive it is the size of a chiuaua, however, I would not like to get one mad at me.. The once Ive meet have been good guard dogs.

but as I said as a cross with another guardy dog (guard and guard usually makes a sharp dog) might be a lot in this mix. Or nothing at all due to severe outbreeding and far in between the genepool of origin.

To sum it up.. it's total gamble what you get here.. if you feel you can handle worst case scenario as I painted up there (cause that is how the dogs might be geneticly programed due to their ancestry) then you could take one. If you are not prepaired for it.. I'd be carefull..

I know I'd pass on the oppurtunity cause I love the akita, but from what Ive read of breed behaviour it's not a dog for me.. you however already own one so you are prolly used to everything they can offer and therefor I can see you handleing that kind of a mix.

However PLEASE, post PHOTOS! Id love to see photos of that mix!!

Good luck!!

ps your basic question yes they do snore and drool a lot, most molosses do, even pits and my rottie shar pei x ds

hi,

thanks for that i will be having a look at the pups this weekend and playing with them to see how they are, the akita is very strong willed, and another strong dog mix, i agree with you is a tough dog to handle, i'm just a little worried about the dog drooling 24/7 - i don't mind when it's eating or drinking, thats ok, but just if it comes up to me shakes it's head and saliva flys everywhere isn't something i look forward too
