Default Which Breed?

Lifestyle/Schedule
On weekdays, during the school year, I am at school from 8 AM to 3 PM. My dad comes home at noon from work to let the dogs out then goes back. After school, I feed/exercise the dogs then go inside and spend some time on the computer, admining on two different sites. In the winter, for exercise, my dogs run around in a fenced in area and one of them runs the lead position on my 4 dog racing team. I let the dogs out for the last time at 10 PM and for the first time at around 6 AM. In the Spring/Summer/Fall I go running for a mile or two and once a week I go on an 8 mile walk. I also go biking, hiking, and camping and would love a companion for these. I can't take my current dogs because they are large and can't go biking because they pull too hard. [They are Siberians and Siberian Mixes] Because of the way my current dogs were raised, they are outside dogs, but because this dog is going to be a show dog and is going to be a more family-orientated breed, it will be inside. I understand that a lot of people have indoor Siberians, but I've tried training mine to be indoor dogs and they hate it. They also chase the cats. I find that they are happier outside as long as they get attention. Please don't bash me for keeping my dogs outside, you don't know my personal situation so you can't judge how I take care of my dogs. I know plenty of reputable breeders who keep dogs in different places for different reasons such as outside/inside/in garage.

I Want
I want a dog that can get along okay with my other dogs, and that does well in the show ring. The breed needs to be fairly low-maintenance and be small to medium in size. They must not be prone to seperation anxiety as I am often gone in the day.

The Breeds
I am considering 2 breeds, the Toller and the Cairn. I understand that these breeds are very different in size, energy, maintenance, etc. But, I have met specimens of both breeds, have talked to owners/breeders, and have been approved by breeders of both breeds. I am very adaptable. I can provide enough exercise for the Toller but would be very satisfied also with the low requirements of a Cairn.

Please don't go by what breed you like best, go by what you think would suit me best, even if it's none of them. Please be honest. Thanks! =D

Of course I have to recommend A Labrador Retriver, great dogs, intelligent, and they are highly adaptable to getting along with your current pack and would be great to take bike riding with you. Mine are great indoor dogs but they do require daily grooming to keep hair under control.
Good luck with finding the right dog for you, to pick a dog from you list I personally like Tollers

Labradors are the most popular dog today so its not surprising others would suggest them, but to show since they are so popular there are more contenders to show against. But you were looking for low maintanence and because labs shed that would be the only reason they might not suit you, but they are great dogs

Yeah, I love them, but I want a dog for showing and I am not a fan of how stocky they breed them for the show ring.

Personally I love the stockyness but tollers are beutiful if you choose them but they also take grooming like the lab but they are also intelligent.
Im glad your taking the time to think about it though and ask others opinions

Thanks. =D

But it's just if I wanted to do Agility too, I don't think a show lab would be built as well for that. =]

I have never seen nor met a cairn but you said they were a low maintenance breed so they may be better that way for you than a Toller
