![]() There's a great little program called CPU-Z that will give you lots of info about your system.

![]() Well I downloaded it onto an old clunker at work (win 98 SE) and last I saw it had 0/5000 out of the WU after about an hour. Is that normal?

![]() The older operating systems are actually faster than the new ones (fewer bells and whistles to eat up CPU power), though the older hardware definitely does take a while to produce work.

![]() This morning it was up to 350/5000. I can see why you are you hunting for computing capacity. Whatever this thing is, it is a CPU pig (IMO).

![]() What happens if there is an uexpected shutdown? Like power failure? Does everything get lost that it has been doing for three days or does it send back packets?

![]() The program defaults to saving work every 15 minutes, though you can set it to save as frequently as every 3 minutes. Usually it will pick up from the last saved location if the computer shuts down unexpectly, though there are occasions when it will have to start over.
When shutting down the system manually, be sure to manually quit out of the folidng program first to ensure that it will pick up normally when the folding program starts up again. Folding or not, it's a very good idea to invest in a battery backup for your computer as it will protect it from any unexpected power events. The lower end ones are very inexpensive these days, especially compared to the price of a computer.
