Default Row over Corgis

A disagreement has broken out between the RSPCA and owners of corgis with the RSPCA claiming that breeders have bred them to the extent that they are no longer able to play with other dogs:

I am not personally into 'pure bred' dogs. I prefer to rescue them. We just happened to get a beagle when she ended up at the pound. They are a kill shelter so if we hadn't adopted her and no one else did she would have been put down

Have they been breeding to have longer bodies and shorter legs? I have only ever seen one Corgi "in person" and it was the cute puppy. But I do know I was watching a show on TV about an animal hospital an the vet had been called in to do a C-section on a pug. She owned a pug herself. She said that pugs were being bred to have shorter bodies and that was causing delivery problems for so many. Also bassets and doxies with longe3r bodies, and that was causing more and earlier back problems. My SIL's basset lost the use of her back legs due to lower back problems when she was only 7 Why can't they just leave well enough along. I am also against tail docking and ear dropping. Perhaps those people that want it done should have a couple of inches of their fanny removed and their ears cropped to be pointed like Mr. Spock on Star Trek. Just seems like purely unnecessary pain for the dogs. I understand cropping and docking except for medical reasons is not allowed in England and doegs with that done can not be shown. I can't remember where I read that.
