Default Why dogs are afraid of fireworks

We know they are, and this article tries to explain why:

Default Recue Remedy

This year, hubby is going to look for some rescue remedy and we will also pray nobody in the neighborhood shoots off illegal fireworks like they did last year
Poor Rascal was terrified!

All three of mine hate fireworks. Dunny is the worse. Though fireworks are illegal inside the town's limits, they still shoot them. I'm sure they will start this weekend and continue through Tuesday...dreading it!

This year even Sir Moose our Great Pyrenees--who normally isn't scared of anything--was nervous with the fire works. There were a lot being shot off on the street behind us (small town) and some were really loud BOOM BOOM like I had never heard before. These seem to be the ones that made him nervous. He would look around and get up and move. A few minutes later, another BOOM BOOM, he would get up and move. Those numbskulls started them early and after supper Sir Moose would NOT go outside to pee or poop as he always does aftr eating. Finally at 11:00 we put his leash on him and took him out front. He was not scared to go out front as all the noise had been behind us. He peed and peed and peed, had just found a place to poop, and a numbskull down the street shot off a bunch of fire crackers and Sir Moose all but drug Jerry back in the house. He would not go out again.

The next morning Jerry took him on his walk at 7:15 (before it gets hot) and said Moose pooped 3 times, and had to have peed at least a gallon over the dozen or so places he stopped to pee. And that night he would not go out back alone, but did go out when I went out with him.

My niece had to put a Thunder shirt on her 13" Beagle, pus give her medication. Piper has always gone into a panic at the sound of fireworks or bad storms. Their other two dogs just slept right the fire works.

We had one of the best ever years for fireworks that I can remember.. there were way, way less of them! Not to say none but not nearly as bad as I expected and my two decided to be brave this year and bark at them instead of being afraid and hiding.
