I read this story just over a week ago and it made me feel sick to my stomach. That poor dogs face through the rubble kept playing on my mind. It was as we were travelling to Wales with Joe in the boot with his head resting on the top of the back seats, with his innocent eyes staring ahead. I just can't understand how anyone could do such an awful thing to an animal

The Mutiny would like to dedicate 'Starlight' to 'Star, The dog who lived', who sadly died yesterday at 3pm 06/06/11. This story touched everyone's heart and we would like to thank everyone associated with giving this beautiful animal a chance to live a full and happy life. These creatures give us so much joy, yet people can be so mindlessly cruel. We hope the fight to stop animal cruelty will continue. RIP STAR x

Abused Malta Dog "Star" Passes Away

Star, the dog found horribly abused and buried alive in Malta last week, has died.
Maltese police found the poor dog buried in a shallow grave. She had been shot 40 times in the head with a pellet gun and her snout was tied to prevent her from barking in pain. Her paws were bound, too. Police discovered her when they heard a whimpering sound coming from under some planks of wood.
The fact that Star survived to be rescued was a miracle. The stray dog had been horribly abused by someone who still has yet to be apprehended.
Her caretakers were so sure that she would make a strong recovery that they began to let Star integrate with her new owners, who were the first of thousands to inquire at the shelter about taking her home. For a while it seemed as though this story would have a happy ending. There was no end to the amount of love given by Star's new adopted family. For a few days this sweet animal received the care and affection it should have known its whole life.
But shortly after going home with her new owners Star began to vomit and had to be operated on again. She died yesterday of acute inflammation of the pancreas. Her death was reported by her vet Trevor Zammit, who fought back tears at the announcement.
Star brought together Malta's animal rights activists, who are vowing to continue to seek out her abusers and ensure that some small amount of justice is done in her name, and that no other animal has to suffer as terribly as she did.

No the poor. beautiful, none agressive, loving. trusting Star has died after what she has been through just as she was getting so much love from all the folks who wanted to take her home and care for her it just seems such a shame as she was about to start a new and happy life with a nice kind owner! And then the sadists have seemed to have excaped capture But I doubt it won't be long before they are caught either by lots of dog owners who will make sure it won't happen again or by the police
I just hope the police find them first and throw the full weight of the law on these so called human beings. God Bless you Star you are a shining light to all abused dogs in the fact if you hadn't had died you would trust people again. A lot of dogs would have had to be put down
probably because their minds had been so badly damaged physcologicaly that they would not be safe in any new home. RIP Star and run free at the bridge xxxx Thanks for the update even though it's very sad news. ATB

Emotions are very personal to me. I am fuming inside as to what's happned So I tried to put my point across with out being rude on this forum it was hard but I put my feelings across. I would have probably ended up doing something I would regret if I had caught hold of them! I still can't believe this has happened. Any way I am off to bed now to get some rest ATB

Omgggggggggg!! How can people do something like that! It tears me up! Like i always say animals are angels human are devils. Well some i honestly like animals more then human. This might be dum but its true.
