Thanks for your concern Elbee. =) I was injured once trying to go bikejoring with Harvey (turns out bikejoring with a reactive dog in the city is a bad idea!) and ended up with two broken fingers, so I am much more cautious now.

Bigboy: No worries. I just wanted people here to know that I am aware that the decisions made with these dogs were not the most responsible. It was a very hard time and emotions often cancel out logic. And, in total honesty, the time was dark and I had bigger things to worry about than socializing dogs. Now all I want is to make up for the mistakes made (by both my mother and me) now that I'm older, more mature, and understand dogs much better.

As for the chow mix, she is not terrified. She is just extremely under socialized, so she would not be happy to be in a class with a bunch of other dogs. Here she is happy, although she does seem to be on the bottom of the pecking order since she is the smallest and most timid. I'm considering talking to my mom about allowing her to spend some time inside (if and only if she can get along with Harvey, which I'm not sure that she can).

I will bring the issue up with my trainer (although I hate doing this in general, as judgement in the dog world is usually severe). Once I have some money (after the heartworm tests), maybe I could have her come do an evaluation.

I've gotten some really good suggestions here, and I'm looking forward to implementing some of them soon. I am extremely grateful to the people on this forum for not passing judgement on this situation, as it is much more complicated than it appears. I've had bad experiences with dog forums and people being extremely judgmental and rude, and I'm happy that I've found a community that will try to be helpful instead of lecturing me.

You have come to the right Forum. We DO not always agree, but we always agree to disagree. Everyone makes mistakes with their dogs along the way. If someone tells you they didn't, then they aren't telling you the truth. I've learned so much from this Forum. Continue to ask questions and share pictures. We all love pictures!

Well I think this forum is simply excellent. =) I'm a little swamped with my studies, but I am continuing with my training with the dogs and I will implement some of your suggestions very soon.

I plan to do full grooming sessions this Friday. It'll probably take all day with those 3! Thorough baths, brushing, drying, and nail trimming. Once they're all freshly cleaned and brushed, I will definitely post some pictures.

Thank you all. I will be back with updates and probably more questions at some point soon.

Thanks! I think he's an Australian shepherd/English setter cross. He's got that heel-biting instinct, the ears, and the right fur type for it, but he's also got a strong hunting drive (that's all he does when he is outside), and his coloring is fitting for a setter.

Kind of a weird mix for around here, but he just seems like an exact mix of the two, personality and looks.
