I fenced in part of my backyard , at 400 feet of chain link fence. I wanted to have enough room to do agility work. It was very expensive but I love the security. We have coyotes and the neighbor's uncontrolled dogs and I don't have to worry.

Thanks everyone!

Pups are fixed, we got that done as soon as possible because there are so many roaming dogs around our area, and didn't want fighting and new puppies. o_o

We want to fence in the whole area, but are looking to fence in the back yard sooner, not just puppies but kids too when they get old enough to wonder. We try to keep an eye on them when we're outside but again, its a large area. Going to have to look into how much the 1/2 acre around the back the house will cost for a start. They do have a nice sized run (we don't leave them in there often because theres no covering yet, and Mickey dog can climb out...

Will keep you all up to date on things, thanks for the ideas!

Well I think you will find that the whole 5 acres to fence off will be be astronomical Also bulid high enough so Mickey can't get out! How's the nipping and biting getting on ?

awesome ! does this mean that their nipping and biting is fixed? Bigboy is right 1/2 acre is enough compared to the 5 acre which is very costly... and make sure mickey won't jump over the fence or dig underground

Pups are now just down to chewing, sometimes my hand but mostly their toys, and sometimes the coffee table. Husband and I are gathering up the funds to fence in the back yard, something big enough for the dogs to run, and a bit for the kids. We are going to be doing the WHOLE thing over time, Little bit by little bit since in the long run it'd be a ton. The immediate back yard is about a 3/4 acre, which will be a bit, but it will be easier to get it in than the whole land. Once we get it up I'll try to post a pic of the area.

Again thanks everyone.

One thing does puzzle me a bit even if over a period of time you can afford to fence the whole 5 acres how are you going to supervise the dogs? You should now start training a good recall while you have only a small area fenced off
and prehaps invest in a 'good' dog whistle too!!!

this is true, I'm not an expert on this since i don't have that much of a land recall training would be best if your planning to let them go in walks with this much of land

I'm on almost an acre and most of it is open, except for the pool area. I feel your pain.

We are exploring some options to fence-off a portion of the backyard and possibly expanding the pool area (since it is already fenced-in) so she can run. Otherwise, she likes to run off into the other neighbors' yards....
