Default Poo Problems!

This past few days my little madge has been doing really well with her number 2's outside but today she will not go outside to do it. This morning she had left us a present downstairs and today she has been twice inside even though we have been taking her out regulary. Any Ideas what could be going wrong?

How old is Madge, Duncan? My own personal experience with pups over the years is that, on the whole, they have a far greater tendency to crap inside the house than they have to wee. In other words, they learn ever so quickly not to urinate in the house, but don't seem to mind defacating there.

If you are taking her outside regularly (with puppies I try to do this at least every half hour, if not a bit more frequently), and giving her the appropriate praise when she urinates and/or defecates, then just keep carrying on doing as you are, you will get there. It could be she is a bit loose maybe and can't hold on as well? If you are sure the problem isn't dietary, then my advice would be "steady as you go". Carry on taking her outside at regular intervals, giving her the appropriate praise, and you will get there! I have house trained several pups in my time, and with each one I have always experienced many accidents ... you take them outside, they do nothing, you bring them back in, and they then "go" on your best Wilton ! This is the nature of the beast, you will get there, there is a light at the end of the tunnel !!

It is probably because she is not used to a routine yet. Just be consistant with taking them out, and they will be fine. They just have to get used to it.
