Default Another Ball Bites the Dust

I posted pics or vid of Ozzy with his big $2.50 blue ball that took me months to find & 3 days for him to pop. Mark reminded me, once again, that I should avoid those cheap toys as he demolishes them most of the time in minutes.

Sooooooooooo, long story short Mark went to Walmart last night & came home with a cheapo new $3.50 ball for Ozzy (made out of much tougher material, as he explained to me before giving it to Ozzy). Hahaha he popped it in less than 5 minutes but got to play with it until a little while ago.

Yes, of course, I reminded him that we needed to avoid buying those cheapo toys.

I had to take it away from him a few minutes ago as he was ripping chunks out of it. So much for that idea. Oh well, it provided a quick photo op so I guess it was well worth it.

WalMart balls? Consumables! If we are lucky they last 10 minutes!
I did once get some heavy duty "TherapyZone" balls (I think they are for yoga or something like that) that cost about $9.99. They last longer, maybe are good for four or five days of play and can be repaired.
I once got some "indestructible" balls that were developed by a polymer scientist. They are indeed indestructible, but they are heavy-kind of like bowling balls. I drop kicked one ONCE and regretted it. My foot hurt like heck!

LOL, I keep threatening to get a regular basketball. Have you tried those? Mark keeps telling me that it won't be any fun to kick around either. But, the way I look at it, it should at least be a ball that he can have out in the yard when he's entertaining himself & if we want to run & play with him we can just stock up on the cheapo depot balls & toss out a new one every time he busts one. Ya think a regular basketball would hold up to your dogs?

It dpeends on the diameter. If I get anything but the largest one, Zircie can get his jaws around it and it ends up punctured. On the other hand, he likes the punctured ones better since they are easier to pick up!
The best value for my money seems to be the $5 rubber ones from K-Mart. It takes him a couple of months for him to puncture them.

I thought I would be clever once and get a JollyBall. I thought that since it has a handle, he would not feel the need to bite on it in order to be able to carry it around, and it bounces "funny", making it fun to chase. Well "Monsieur" does not really like them. His favorites are always those ratty dead basketballs.

BTW I thought I had a winner once with those "monster" vollyballs.

Yeah, right!

Hehehehehe — dogs will be dogs! I'm starting to believe the evidence is suggesting we can't outshop their cleverness when it comes to popping balls. I also think Ozzy prefers the flattened variety.

I'm going to have to peruse the ball supply over at KMart & give one of those a try. Ozzy is hard on everything these days. It was like el-destructo took over when he hit 10-1/2 months as until that time, he had all sorts of plushie toys & they all died an unnatural death in the same week.

Get the leather, large soccer balls.Even if they do puncture them, they don't rip and they float even when puncture. It also takes longer to punture, like a couple of mths.

Wow! I never thought about a good soccer ball. I've been so concerned about him eating the plastic. That's a great idea! And, they obviously have great kickability. I've been so focused on the pet stores & toy stores & just kept that basketball in the back of my mind!

Haha! Colbi has a ball just like that! And of course, hers was popped in the first 5 minutes also. She goes through balls like crazy! (Actually, the last one was my mother's fault. We brought Colbi down by the river and my mom was bouncing the ball, and of course, it bounced into the river. [Not a river where you can just go in either, you'd have to jump off a bridge into the filthy dam water to get it.] And then Colbi tried to go in after it. )

My granddaughter uses a basketball with her great dane. She eventually flattens them but it takes a while. The one she has know, has a rope handle duct taped around it, I think the duct tape makes it harder to puncture.
