Default Sunday Evening "Dog Tired" pics

We had a nice sunny weekend so Sunday's physical fitness event was moutain biking through a nearby state park. Hubby is in much better shape than I am, so we took it easy, only did about 10 miles and didn't do any of the steeper grades.
At one point we stopped to rest at one of the campsites and enjoy the view across one of the ponds. DH and I sat and looked across the lake while Sophia swam, got out, swam, got out, got back in and swam some more. (you get the idea ) All the while Zircon was interested in something in the pond nearby that was just out of sight. Then Sophia went to where Zircon was and also seemed to be interested. Zircon started making this whining noise that he only makes when he wants to get close to something and can't for some reason.
At the same time DH and I looked at each other. He said "Something SMELLS". I said "Something smells like it is DEAD". Then I figured it out. If there was anything dead anywhere near where DH and I as humans could smell it, the dogs had smelled it long ago. I got up and went over to there Zircon and Sophia were sniffing-sure enough there was something dead in the water-a dead moose! I have a weak stomch so I insisted that we leave.
So it was exciting for the doggies at any rate.
Towards the end I tried to race Sophia-even doing my best on a mountain bike I cannot keep up with her over a stretch of more than a mile. Boy does she have endurance!
And afterwards. Zircon was so tired he could not even come inside! (Never saw him do THAT before!)

And of course Sophia was tuckered out too!

Sounds like an excellent adventure (except for the moose, of course) for all. I'm so envious! Would love to have a spot like that for doggie adventures.

How darlin'. Not the moose, but the dogs. Sophia looks like she's sayin' "aw, turn the light out will ya?"
