Default Update on Jake

Itís so frustrating that Jake has to go through this through no fault of his own, just because some inconsiderate people left stuff on the beach! Heís still in pain as he yelps if he puts pressure on the foot which is stitched! I've had to clip him as he was too hot with his dreadlocks as he can't swim daily!

Hopefully he gets his stitches out this Saturday and then its walking on soft surfaces for a week until his paws Ďhardení. He has a boot so heíll wear that.

Poor boy! He really doesn't deserve that (what dog does?) .

Do be careful when he gets the boot off. I had the problem with Zircie that because he had to wear a bandage for weeks, his pads were veryu tender and he had trouble on asphalt or concrete surfaces for a while afterward. With hindsight it made perfect sense, knowing what I know now I would make sure his pad "hardens" on grass or dirt before lettingh im walk on a man-made surface.

What a look he is giving you as you took the picture though! I would not be able to resist those beautiful brown eyes!

Awww poor Jake! That really 'grinds my gears' that people are that inconsiderate to leave things like litter and broken bottles etc anywhere that could harm pets or even children! I can't believe some people we have in this world. They think nothing of it, but when they go home and something like that happens to one of their own, they get all cranky and act like it was something they would never do themselves.

Our neighbours are like that- broken bottles all down the sidewalk one morning, my Mocha went hurdling toward it at the beginning of our walk until the glitter of the glass caught my eye from a streetlight just down the block (It was dark out) so I hauled her back, and headed in another direction. Needless to say, I found myself cleaning up glass later that night for almost an hour, as it was embedded in the grass, and even in my driveway. Grr, people!

I really feel bad for Jake- I really miss the pictures of him playing on the beach, and now the poor boy is stuck with a cast on!

Thanks for your comments Jean and Mojo. I intend to take him on the sand first and if the vet agrees maybe let him dip his paws into the water - the salt water should help him. But I will dry his paws straight away and put his boot back on.

He keeps going into the hallway and looking up at his collar and lead - if he could speak he'd say 'why are you not taking me out, what have I done'. It is entirely possible that he is getting depressed - but its only 4 days to go now!

thanks again.

Glad to hear he's only got 4 days to go until he gets a little freedom. Poor guy. Hope the road to recovery is swift.

I feel so bad for both of you as I know you both have a ritual of daily outings... but, on the bright side ....it gives you a chance to heal your knees too..... Hoping for a fast 4 days...but I know they'll probably be your longest............. More cookies for him Carole!!!!!!

Nice to hear from Jake.
Like Shunk said, please be careful and keep the boot on,until he stop whinning and limping.A wound on the pad is probably the most difficult to treat cos they run and are used by the dog as shoes. It took titus,3 mths to stop limping. In his case,He had a chunk cut off that was half a dime deep and could not be stitched. In his case, swimming was the best thing cos he did not put any weight on.It also happened,in a clean lake,on glass.Grrrrrrrrrr!people!.
Thanks for keeping us posted.
