Good girl Amber! Hey, could this be an opportunity for her to have a "doggie friend"? I think so

What a lovely puppy amber is - how old is she now?? I was reading your post ealier - 12 pages i think about which puppy to get and then getting her and then your problems with her, is everything okay now? How is the training going? Do you take her to puppy classes or anything like that?

The only reason I seem overly interested is because hopefully by the end of june I should have myself a puppy jack russell and your post certainly opened up my eyes to the difficult times I could experience.

Also, do you have a harness for amber? I thought using a harness was much better for a dog then using a collar as it doesnt pull on their throat when walking but spreads the pressure around the chest and leg area?? I could be wrong, in which case ignore me!

Not trying to throw your thread off track Maggie...just wanted to explain about harnesses to Waggy (Niki)

Harnesses are generally good for the following scenario:
if your dog walks well on a regular collar and lead, and you are engaging in an activity with your dog where he will be "pulling" you (on purpose that is ), such as when you are roller blading...then a harness would be appropriate.

Otherwise, it isn't an efficient aid in training a dog to walk properly if your dog isn't already trained to do so...especially if its a puppy...harnesses should be called the "puller"...they give you no control over the dog whatsoever. Granted it might be more comfortable and less pressure on the dog to wear, and I could see where it could be a better suited alternative to a collar under certain circumstances...but it doesn't do anything for you when your trying to keep your dog under proper control.

Whew! I hope that covered it, feel free to add additional info, should anyone have some
