Default Vet visit today

Cheynie had another vet visit this afternoon for the second series of her vaccinations. Three weeks ago she had her rabies shot and the nasal vaccine for Bortadella. Today, she had the DA2PP and leptospirosis shots. Things went fairly well again. She was way ott excited to be there but when we arrived we were the only ones in the waiting area. After greeting the receptionists, she settled down and sat quietly (well, quietly for her...) next to and was happy to take some treats for her good behavior. Two other people came in with dogs, one of which was a woman I know from the neighborhood with her delightful and incredibly well-behaved dog who was shaking like a leaf...apparently vet visits aren't something she likes. Cheynie really wanted to say hi but was fine with just checking her out from across the room. Another person came in with a much more excited dog who began barking and dancing around and Cheynie seemed to take that as an invitation :-(...luckily the vet tech came to get her at that time so she didn't really have time to get too wound up. She was a trooper with her shots and overall, despite her dancing and being so excited to see everybody, she did pretty well behaviorally. I just wish her vet had alarger waiting area so that everyone isn't forced to be in such close proximity-- a little distance can be so helpful in managing excitable behavior.
I was good, honest!

Our Vet has quite a large waiting room as it is surrounded by all the dog and cat food that they sell. The only time you are sort of crowded is when you are at their long counter paying your bill and someone new comes in through the door. I have never been in there when there were more than at the most, one or two other animals. I have taken Kris in ever since she was a puppy to weigh her so she is quite happy to go in and sit on the scale. She is 75 lbs. now so that should be her healthy adult weight as she is two Dec. 24th.

Cheynie has grown so much, what does she weigh now? It is hard to tell from pictures.

Rascal likes to go visit with other dogs too but we don't let her because they may be sick. Now if we could just get her to sit still on the scales!

For anything that seems serious or for any ER treatment, I take Cheynie to LIVS. They are a specialty center and are open 24/7 for emergency visits. Their waiting room is huge and just lovely, but they are a much larger and more complex facility with all kinds of things going on. They don't do wellness checks and routine vaccinations, though, so for routine things like that I take her to her regular vet. I actually followed her vet there from a previous office where he had been working to where he is now when he took over this practice. It is much smaller in physical size and a busy practice which makes me wish they had a larger waiting room. It's interesting that you ask about Cheynie's weight. I, too, thought she had grown some, but she is still holding steady at 47-48 lbs so apparently not. She is on the six month Sentinel heartworm/flea protection plan so I have her weighed each time I renew the medication as 50lbs is the cutoff for the next size prescription dose and so far we have not had to move her up to the next dosage level.
This is the waiting area at LIVS:

and this is Cheynie in the waiting room of her regular vet last July...(she was busy serenading the ceiling fan

Ah, you have answered my question . I love that photo of her (yes Dee, she is just so cute). I'm so so pleased the visit went well and she is okay after all her shots.
