Question Desert Puppy is what?

Hello all!

This is Mickey Red. 10 days ago this little puppy walked out of the desert and into our lives. Literally walking in from the desert behind out house. The vet says he is around 4 months old, though he acts much younger.

We are sure there is heeler of some kind in him, he has beautiful red ticking all over him. However we don't know what else he is. He are thinking pit or something along those lines.

He has expressive blue/green eyes, light red-brown tones and red ticking. Gentle and cuddly as all get out. He is gentle with our cats and other dogs.

My husband and I have no problems with pits, we are of the belief dogs are made mean not born that way. We are just wondering what breed makes up his other half. We know it's not border collie as our other two have that and his face is different, so are his ears.

Any suggestions? Thank you for your time.

I don't see any pit in him. How big is he? Maybe he has some terrier in him if he is not very big.

Mickey is about 8 inches at the shoulder, he is about 12 pounds, though he has grown some since he moved in. We just took him to the vet last week and they said I believe 12 pounds....6 maybe...

here are more pictures, if that helps:

I don't see any pit in him at all. I'd have to go with some sort of terrier, or even beagle. What ever he is, he sure is cute!

That he is. He does have an interesting ...whine... when I first heard it I thought it sounded like words, and he has nice big paws.

He is a sweetheart whatever he is, likes to cuddle still and sleeps like the dead.

We are running out of time to give him away though, getting to attached and I think the others are getting attached as well.

I see no pit in him either. He looks like he has some beagle in him to me too.

Mom and Dad inlaw say he might be part beagle

see we were avoiding this cause most of his family has beagles and we were bound and determined not to get one....

guess he found us

we decided that if we don't find him a home by the end of this week we will officially have three dogs

Aww...so sweet. The last photo that shows his facial expression while sleeping shows that has definitely adopted you. Bless his little heart, after roaming in the desert, he thinks he has found heaven.
