Default Cheynie's first bath

Cheynie had her first bath today. Cheynie is fine. I am exhausted! We went to Petco today to pick up some Zukes and puppy shampoo. I couldn't decide which shampoo to get so I went with Nature's Miracle Puppy Shampoo because with a leaky, semi-trained puppy, Nature's Miracle cleaner has become my best friend. We came home and I procrastinated as long as I could with memories of how much Chessie hated her baths burned into my brain. It was not exactly a walk in the park, but overall things went well, not too much squirming, she wasn't afraid of the water or hand-held shower head, no shrieking, and none of my neighbors called Animal Control despite her ear-splitting protests about the blow dryer (a battle that I lost). She dried off and was happily enjoying a peanut butter filled bone in her crate while I put the bathroom back together. She must have thought this bath was my first rodeo because as we went out the door for her evening walk, she tried to head right to the garden dirt to roll! but THAT battle I had thought about ahead of time

"I'm fuzzy and soft and shiny and clean and I hate it!"

Nice and clean and shiny. I took Susie in last week for a bath. She is so big and hairy I can't do her at home so take her to the Daycare that has a place where you can bath your dog. It has a ramp up into the bathtub which is raised to a comfortable height and a powerful blow dryer. It does not have heat but sure blows the water out of their coat. Usually the place has flying hair everywhere but for some strange reason, Susie did not shed any hair at all which is really unusual. Her coat looked so nice after the bath and they provide all the soap and conditioner, all for $13.00.

Wow! That is a great price! I think Petco (one of which is right down the street from me in either direction and a Petsmart as well) does bathing as well as grooming but I haven't yet asked about the cost. Cheynie is low maintenance as she has a very short coat and no undercoat at all (from what I understand most potcakes don't which could make this winter interesting for her); she is sort of 'wash and wear' as Chessie was, but I wouldn't mind not having to puppy-proof and then un-puppy-proof the bathroom each time she needs a bath. Any possibility of sticking a stamp on her nose and sending her to visit at bathtime?

Clean, shiny puppy...How pretty! Dunbar is so big that when it's bath time, it's outside on the driveway with his lead attached to the back of the truck so that he can't run into the house before we are finished. Also, since he's not the most cooperative bather, we all usually end up taking a bath. But it's worth the trouble as there's nothing better than snuggling with a clean smelling, silky feeling dog.

I'd like to see a video of the "group" bath ....I hope Dunbar doesn't get many winter baths, could be tough in ice and snow! (and you are so right about that snuggling!)

Ah bless, she looks like she's that happy with the bone and peanut butter the bath is all but forgotten.

Hmmm, seems as though Cheynie has forgotten all about her bath, eating that big old peanut butter bone... from Petsmart, no doubt. :O) I am very lucky. Scooter doesn't like baths, but he never puts up a fuss. Harley loves the water, and gets in the tub himself. Like I said, I'm very lucky.

LOL! Some things are better not seen by the public.
Luckily, we only occasionally get ice and snow and only a couple of months of cold weather. Also, Dunny is a very "non-smelly" dog, and doesn't require a lot of baths. Have used dry shampoos for quick cleanups and if necessary it's to the vets for a winter bath.
