Default Pool fun :)

Today a rec center/family fun center where I live opened the pool for dogs, for about 3 hrs. I went there with my dad, my younger brother his dog and of course Miya. I figured this would be good for her for exercise(and her hips).

They gave us little goodie bags that had treats and two balls. Well, Miya kept losing the balls. But anyway, I learned that dogs don't naturally know how to swim in deep water, at least mine doesn't, She's use to being in water that reaches her stomach at most.

I threw her ball in the deep pool(since it was the time for small dogs to swim in the other pool) and she didn't really get it:

Then she got mad when it went even further into the pool so she was slapping at the water/barking at the ball trying to get it close to her:

One of the people worked/volunteered there eventually got her another ball. Then we went over to the part where it didn't have only deep water. Most of the dogs played in this area rather than the pool with only deep water.

Here are the pictures I took from her time there:

*Kind of wish I had zoomed in on that one*

(She decided to shake just when I was taking a photo)

Here are some photos after the pool, as she was drying off/enjoying the sun:

When miya didn't have a ball to play with she would wander around until she got one.

LOL, that last post made me smile! It looks like all the dogs had a wonderful time. What a wonderful thing to open the pool for dogs. In a town not far from me they had a dog walk-a-thon and then opened the water park for the dogs to enjoy afterward. Love the videos and pics. Thanks for sharing!

I think it is terrific that they opened the pool for dogs, I wish places here would do that. The dogs certainly looked like they were having a great time.

I thought it was great of them to do that too, apparently they've been doing it every year since 2004. It only cost $4 and I think that went to the local animal shelter. The other dogs there were having a lot of fun too. Even though every dog got two balls, they kept stealing each others XD

There have been a lot of dog based events this weekend(it's called the 'dog days of summer'). In another town there was an event with sheepdog, they had disk diving too and also a bunch of informational booths for dogs. Which is awesome too.

That's wonderful, letting the dogs into the pool. I don't blame Miya for not wanting to go in the deep end either. I never go in water where I can't touch bottom either!

Wow that looks fantastic! They all looked like they were thoroughly enjoying it. I've never heard of anywhere ever doing that before.

Great pictures
