Default Mr. Buddylee: The Happy Grazer.

Most of Mr. Buddylee's grazing, in our yard and along his roadside walking routes, is on the Lantana plants. Although we have heard that the plant is mildly toxic to humans and animals, the Happy Hound seems to thrive on the leaves of this wonderful looking plant. We used to be concerned about his enthusiastic munching, but it has been over 11 years that he has been attracted to this plant, and he is in perfect health. He only gets to consume lantana during the 6 months he spends in Florida. As soon as he jumps out of the van, when we arrive in November, he is attracted to the plant beds. It's now time for Buddylee to head North and his days of eating Lantana salad are numbered. He seems to know this, so we find him with head buried in the foliage more than usual. Next week we will be on the road and taking a break from Blog posting. Buddylee will be back in late April.

My understanding is that both the leaves and unripe berries of the lantana are toxic to dogs...you sure he hasn't hidden a t-bone in there?
Hope you all have a pleasant and safe trip north.. and if you can manage to bring some of that sunshine and warmer weather with you, it will be much appreciated!

I can't believe he squeezed into that fence to get to the plant! Have a safe trip! We will be looking forward to Mr. Buddylee's return!

I hope you bring warmer weather to the cold cruel North too! They have had a tough long winter. Just don't bring any hurricanes with you
