Default A little whirlwind called Tara

so madam has been with us just a few weeks, and already she is ruling the roost, even our cat whom adopted us and made herself queen is considering handing over the reigns.....
tara is fiull of mischief, and i am sure she considers no being her name, followed by bad pup, and go away you stink.
she is such fun to have, blake adores her, the cat even lets her snuggle up and lick it all over. the son thinks she is a great foot ball companiion, and the hubby thinks its so much fun to point the rear weapon my direction, to watch me flee seconds later.
i swear i will invest in a gas mask, as the emissions coming out of that small dog can only get worse as they grow. why does it not say on breed specific sites about mastiffs and american bulldogs fart and snore hugley.
i have to say tara is hard work, she chewes everything, walls furniture, what ever fits in her chops. she does come when called, but most of the times needs a period of grace to think it over, she loves gardening, while i on the other hand dont apreaciate the help lol, i would like to eat some fresh veg this year.....think i will just have to try and rescue whats still alive into pots and let madame have the veg patch. might be worth investing into a fence around the raised veg beds next year.
she sure is keeping all of us on our toes, humans and fellow animals alike

Well what a cute pup love the pic where it's appears to be suckling blake can't be?? it's the mischief that I don't like (if you know what I mean!! ) Looks very much as though Tara is a Staffy Bull Terrier!!!
Some ground/house rules I think is needed! Tara won't grow out of any unwanted behaviour (which I am sure you know already )
Cute yes! Adorable yes! Naughty yes! How old is Tara? Good luck with Tara!

tara is now 3 months old, she her mum was an american bulldog and her dad an english bull mastiff. her mum did not survive giving birth and the pups were hand fed by a volunteer from a rescue.
ground rules, yes there is loads, and belive me when i say she is hard work enforcing them. not cause she is cute, but i am still getting used to the mastiff type of head strong. even though blake is a staff cross gsh he has been a teachers pet from day one always eager to please. madam whirlwind on other hand loves the company but thinks about whats in it for her. we are slowly finding her weaknesses, one of which is food lol. and are working on stuffs

That's for sure techie Nipper was nightmare at around 3-4 months I had joined here then but soon after I did and I got much needed advice
With the chewing etc you could try redirection techniques wre you reirect you dog on to something they can chew like a kong or a ball or even a squeaky toy! So when Tara get rediredcted and she comes running over to you have plenty of praise for her then play and make to fun also use a few treats as well to start off with till she gets the idea in her head what moms got is more to fun to chew she is at the optimum age now to quick learn what's right and whats wrong!!! She will make good progress if you are consitant enough. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

I don't mind the mischief puppies get into, it's part of their charm and they do make you laugh with many of their antics. You've done a great job with Blake so I'm sure Tara will come around. If you could only harness and channel that energy in the garden she could be quite a help digging

I agree some of the things pups get up to are funny but chewing door frames and furniture, electric wiring etc how ever is not and is costly to replace and even dangerous!

luckily she has no interest in wires what so ever, its corners on walls and skirting boards. i put a paste of hot mustard and chilli powder on one of her art works, and came back to see blake the numbty happily licking it off. while tara sat and waited for the yuk hot stuff to be gone so she could carry on.
she makes us laugh a lot and is certainly a rather spirited little pup, always looking for something to get into. i am hoping to have raised veg beds next year and am planning on putting a fence around them, as i will be getting my chickens tomorrow, so will have to protect the veg from them as well
and my big boy is a great help, teaching her bite inibition, and telling her off when she is doggy rude. she is easily distracted with treats and chews, but when she thinks no one is looking the walls get it.
its not too bad as we will be re wiring the house at some point in the near future and then redecorating anyways. by then i hope to have gotten her out of that past time
