It is difficult for the dog to see the fish because of their low angle to water.
Sadie paid no attention to local spawning pink salmon last year until she got up on a bank and then could see them.
I had to put a stop to her chasing and catching them as I was worried about salmon poisoning which can kill a dog.

Must have been a gas to watch your dog chase them.

Thanks guys!

Kenziesmom, thanks for the tip! I will have to pick one up although I don't know if we're taking him for sure yet but it'd probably be useful for a number of things.

He is quite the character. I, unfortunately, have never been fishing in my life but Mikey would probably be great to have around if I were to. I should really try it with him one day.

MrJohn, that's pretty scary! Luckily there's no salmon here in NJ. I wish I was able to see what type of fish it was. This is a manmade water reservoir and they stock it with fish, mostly bass from what I've been told. It could have even been tadpoles, but it had to be somewhat big if he did see it. If it ever happens again I will tape it, I always have my camera at the park with him.

Maybe it was a school of minnows, or sun fish? I sure hope next time you can get a video of Mikey fishing. It sure would be a lot of fun to watch.
