Default Charley's Dieting Success!

Okay I'm not one to toot my own horn but...TOOT! TOOT! Charley was a little porky when we first got him back in April. And it's very important to keep a 3 legged dog on the trim side so he was immediately put on a diet and exercise regime. Check him out! He thinks he's lookin' pretty fine. Now if Mommy could just follow through with her diet .

Well done Charley. Freckel put on alot of weight when he went lame for almost a year. But with a lot of exercise and a good diet it came off. So well done you.

Charley looks terrific! Chessie has a vet appointment this afternoon. She had lost four lbs when they weighed her two weeks ago... but what they didn't see is that she had her front paw off the mat scale while her weight was being taken. I have a feeling they might notice a fast four lb weight gain this visit though :-)

Weight management food and vigorous games of fetch. That's it. Charley actually does not enjoy taking walks. I'm not sure if it's because he never had a home before and was basically a junkyard dog/stray so he's "had enough" of the whole adventure aspect of taking a walk. That presented an obstacle for me. However Charley's absolute obsession with balls and playing fetch created an alternate way for him to get exercise. Every morning, afternoon and evening we have "power fetch" sessions. I run him ragged chasing balls for about 30 minutes. He loves it, he knows when he needs to take a break and he has gotten into excellent shape. He's my solid little guy now. When it rains or is extremely cold, we have our fetch sessions in the family room. Thankfully it's a sizable room!

I'm actually not sure how much weight he has lost. He started at 63 pounds in April. He was at the vet the end of September and he was down to 55 pounds but he hasn't been on a scale since then.
