Talking 4 mile beach walk

Here's some photos when Todd and I went to our nearest beach for the first time. It's 2 miles there and 2 miles back. It's mostly scenery, as Todd wasn't interested in photos, just in smelling bunny rabbits.

Going out of the village

A hawk (had the wrong setting on the camera, otherwise it could have been a good pic)

Frozen Loch

Snowy peaks (that little building is our new hotel).

The beach, Oldshoremore. We have to go down this huge hill

More to come...

The moon above the hills on the way back

Sunset in Kinlochbervie as we got to the door.

We really enjoyed our walk, although it was way to cold. I think I'll wait until its a bit warmer before we go again!

It's so beautiful! I must say that with all the pics everyone in Scotland posts I can't wait to go there and see for myself at some point.

Todd's collar is smashing, I love it

Did you leave Breagha at home?

Yes Breagha had to stay at home, she'd never be able to walk that far, much as she'd love to, bless her. She's 13 1/2 now, its a bit too far for her. But we will go in the car as soon as the weather is dry so she can come to the beach too

Lovely pictures Sarah - I enjoyed walking to the beach with you (by picture). We have gale force winds today so I guess its pretty gusty with you too.

Is there a pub in the village, or is your hotel the local meeting place. Can I check, your new hotel, like the old hotel, is dog friendly? Its OK for visitors to bring their pooches?

You will get fit up and down to the beach, 4 mile round trip. Especially with the hill. You won't need to do gym work!

Thanks for posting those pictures, looking forward to many more.

Yes, its very gusty here today too, my parents were back to Uist today to pick up my sister and spent 6 hours on the ferry crossing getting there, when usually is 2 hours. The ferry got half way, and turned back to Uig. Tried again, got half way, and then turned back yet again. They've only just got there, and the later sailing is cancelled. Up here seems to be more rainy than windy, but its going to pick up later.

The hotel had a public bar, where all the locals meet. We've already scored brownie points by installing Sky and Setanta and a 50inch flat screen on the wall. It should bring even more people in for watching games.

Without a doubt we're dog friendly, and I am certain Jakey will love it here! There was a dog couple staying on the first night we got here, they had a little black poodle named Murphy, he was adorable, and Todd loved him too! Without a doubt, all dogs and doggy people are allowed in.

Wow what lovely pics, you are so lucky.
I walk Harley along the coast but it isn't quite as scenic here in Edinburgh. Perhaps we could all take some snaps of our local walks and post them, it would be quite intersting to see the many different 'walks' our dogs get? One of our walks is along a city cycle path which is very enclosed but good as it's safe from traffic for off lead, well except for the cyclists of course but they do mostly slow down when they see dog walkers.

Aww, bless her. I know what it's like, we used to have to leave our older gentlemen at home to take the 'young uns' out.

I saw a lady recently with a pack of little dogs, she had a little cart with a handle that her old one sat on and she pulled it around so it didn't miss out on walky times. Maybe you could get Breagha a giant cart?
