Default Video Great Dane -v- Spaniel!

Here's a video of Chance (Great Dane) and Jake (IWS) -

Please comment if you feel that he (Chance) potentially has a problem with his back end - or is it just my imagination!

Enjoy

They sure were having a good time and at first it appeared that Chance was just tucking his rear as many dogs do in play.

After watching the video it's clear to see that Chance is weak in the rear and lacks normal rear extension in his movement. This is fairly common in older dogs with arthritis. How old is he and is this something new? Perhaps the hip and joint supplement with glucosamine would help.

Have you spoke to the vet then as metacam might help if you think that he is in pain but he doesn't look it, and I'm sorry I thought that he was older then that bless him he is so cute looking.

Apples that is why I posted this video. My daughter is in denial. She took her dog to the vet when she went home. The vet said the dog is OK - Grrrr

How can a vet miss something that is so obvious - skinny dog, scurfy skin (vet says thats natural); feet cut and bruise easily.

Oh dear, that doesn't sound good at all. Does he get enough exercise in his everyday life to keep his muscletone up?

I don't know alot about these things, but even to a novice like me he did look weak in the back end. Loved the vid and pics though.

he needs to gain some weight and muscle mass he would benefit a lot from swimming exercising. He is one third of his life as a dane, if he has gone through prior hardship (don't remeber how long you said she has had him) and was malnurished as a puppy, poorly breed etc he might very well have severe issues with the hips despite age. The vet will not know by just looking if it is in early stage either, it would take an xray. They are really cute together however!!
