Default New lens = new Georgia pictures

I got a new lens for my camera so my first willing model was Georgia. I need to work on my technique a ton but some are neat. I think Georgia is getting a bit beaten down by the camera though .... she is starting to look very put off.

Oh, if anyone has guesses to her background we'd like to hear. I can't get a body shot with this lens but she's supposed to be a lab / border collie mix. Lately we think she has hound or something in her too. She's only 44 pounds so it's very small for a lab. Her bark is more hound like. Plus she's very very slim and sleek almost like a greyhound.

It's funny you mention the sleek coat. We do get compliments on her coat but we really don't do much beyond feed her Canidae dry mixed with some Iams wet. I sometimes feel guilty when people compliment her on how nice her coat looks since it seems like I'm taking all the credit for just feeding her!

What lovely pictures!

As you know Max is a lab x b.collie. His coat is not quite as smooth and his ears arent as big as hers. There does look to be a bit of hound there somewhere. I must post some new pics of Max, he has gotten so big!

Sorry for the delay, I missed your question.

The camera is a Canon 10D which by today's digital SLR standards is considered "old". The lens is what I think to be the cheapest lens made by Canon or any other major manufacturer - the 50mm f/1.8 II which retails for around $75 US brand new. I'm trying to decide what type of photographer I am - point and shoot or digital SLR and looking at my 10D I realized that I have really horrible lenses. So to make an informed decision I decided to get a few good lenses for my 10D and then decided if I like photography enough to justify a SLR system or is point and shoot good enough for me. The result could be me selling my old SLR equipment!

Canon makes a similar lens which is a 50mm f/1.4 USM that is also a great deal and excellent but it's priced at around $200-$300 US so the other lens was a no brainer for me.

As you can see I'm also somewhat into photography at the moment.

Please do. We'd love to see how Max is doing.

I need a body shot of Georgia too. She's a funny mix at times. We are starting to think the border collie explains a lot of her behavior where she "tunes" us out instead of what we suspected was hound. But the more I look at her head above the eyes and her profile I see something liek greyhound or whippet. But then there's the loose skin around the chest that reminds me of lab.

Either way she's a keeper ... though we do wish she'd learn to heel better.
