Default Dog days of summer

Took Drifter down to the river to cool off some. I've failed to find a kiddie pool to put out back for him

Heading for the river, no need to tell him where to go.

His little ducks that he enjoys to chase weren't there today, he kept searching for them.

Silly boy tried to eat a bee.

He wouldn't go any further until I joined him.

Thats one happy dog.

I guess he thought I wasn't wet enough...
Yes that would be part of me standing in the river... with my shoes adn socks on.

After a good roll in the grass to "dry off" as I call it he's ready to hit the road.

Now it's bathtime. Such a horrible mommy, but the river smells adn he's now covered in mud.

Awww, but the smell from the water is so GOOD mommy! Remind me of the fun I had! Why do you want to wash it off!

Aw. I love this little photo sequence. Even without the captions it prefectly shows the thing I love most in life: trips to the river with a pup. They make everything so fun and exciting! I keep thinking that maybe I should try chasing ducks, fetching sticks in the river, and rolling in smelly things atleast once and see if I get that same joy.

I'm sure thats what he said Skunk, along with a few other things.

Your on your own there Lime, I'll be watching from the riverbank lol. I get a lovely warm feeling just watching my old man bouncing around like a puppy at the river. Makes me wonder why people can be content with such simple things.

Kelsie, he's a Labrador Mix, I've always thought with some Pit in him but others have said they see Boxer or Rottie even Greyhound (I laugh at that he's way to much of a tank).

Bathtime is now complete, much to his dislike he is now... somewhat clean.

Not even wet yet and he plops himself down thinking he can't be moved. Wrong.

He's just so thrilled. lol

He felt the soap could stay on and if he went to the other side of the tree I wouldn't get him. Wrong again lol.

Finding a place to roll now that he's clean. -sigh-

Down he goes.

And again, just to make sure the "clean" was off him.

Oh and we must not forget to shake off any remaining "clean".

OK now we go in the house, forget this ever happened and have cookies and pig ears.

He's now fast alseep on the couch, getting a bath is tough work.

Those are such wonderful pictures. Isn't it funny how they always have to roll in something (usually dirt or grass) after a bath.
