Default An unlikely pair

Just a couple of pictures I took of Simba and her friend Shabba the staffy on their walk this week, they're like chalk and cheese but they adore eachother and I think they look really sweet...

Simba's quite demanding of Shabba and harasses her constantly wanting to play, a lot of dogs would get annoyed (molly does) but Shabba has the patience of a saint with her.

Staffies can get on with other dogs, as lovely Shabba proves!

Simba with her tongue lolling out, the doofus!

oh they can.... I have one too you know..

BUT, once they turn IF they do it, it is often in the blink of an eye...

THAT is the risk... its not ALWAYS it happens but there IS a risk...

THAT is what people need to know

but usually collie furr is VERY protective so mostly they only get a moutfull of hair

Seen that one go down before a pit attacked my neighbours longhaired collie didnt succeed to do any damage cause of the ammount of hair..

I understand what you're saying Monkey. It takes a lot and she never starts a fight, but she turns quicker than my two when challenged.

I'm always careful with her, she's very strong. But with people she is wonderful, it's a shame that when we go for a walk people avoid Shabba but go to stroke fluffy Simba...who is the one with fear aggression! I just laugh at these two together, they're so completely opposite in every way.

I think it was Trish King at last years Australian APDT conference that said dogs that were fine as puppies usually turn at around 14 mths old, such as staffys.
Lovely pics.

Shabba is nearly 7 now so I think we're ok, she's the laziest dog on earth and if fighting involved fast movement, she'd want no part of it! lol

hahaha I know what you mean, an old boss was scared of Tasha but one day when he meet cujo (a rottie german shepherd mix WITH severe aggression he had bit several people) he leans over oH what a cute dog and pets him ON THE HEAD. Thank god this was a bit into his training Cujo did NOT bite.. but... well people don't make sence at times..

Always keep a positive mind with dogs like this as they are gorgeous, peaceful looking and your doing fine and I have faith it will continue.
Dogs bicker like people, mine do and I step in and stop it. Never a dog fight for real as I will NOT let it happen.

Just keep on your toes and keep them busy and happy and they will respect and look up to you more than anything in the world. Dogs rely on us more than we realize. Keep all things positive and equal time with each. Continue on honey, your doing fine. Beautiful dogs. Just the looks makes me feel so positive nothing will go wrong, if so, just carry a big stick, lol.

Thanks guys, I don't worry about Shabba at all really, she's too lazy to fight anything! Possibly the laziest staffy I've ever met!

Lovely pics...

Looking at pics of ur collie made me think of my dad....who passed away 12 years ago now.

When I was a wee (small) girl, my mum worked on Saturday mornings, so my dad took care of me. He used to say to my mum, "Netta, please tell me there`s not any of those lassie films on"...lol.......I used to cry my eyes out!!

Thanx for the memory....

Lindy..x
