Default Shaking and vomiting

Hey everyone,

I'm here with yet another pet emergency of sorts.

My wife has a Shih-Tzu mix, Henry, that is vomiting a lot, producing a lot of what looks like mold, and is shaking all over, as in extreme Parkinson's. There's no odd smell or gum colour.

We live in an area rife with snow mold, Bison patties, squirrels, chipmunks, stray dogs, and the occasional wolf or bear. Also, when the slobs moved out next door they didn't take their damn dirty diapers with them, and that **** is all over.

Henry got his first shots about 3 weeks ago, and he's about 6 months old.

Okay, my wife says his shaking is letting up a little bit, but this vomiting and shaking has been going on for not quite an hour.

One of my other dogs had similar symptoms a few days ago, but pulled out after only about an hour, he was fine, and he weighs 120 pounds.

Any suggestions?

And please don't say get him to a vet immediately, because a vet is 6 hours away, overnight, through Bison and deer country, so it's not going to happen.

John

Poor pup! Do any of the emergency vets (I want to say near you, but I know "near" has a very different meaning for you) have 24 hour phone consults? I had a friend who lived on a fairly remote island near Australia and she was able to at least get some help by phone calling to Australia.

No, there's nothing like that here. We're well north of the 60th parallel, far away from civilization.
Henry is continuing to vomit - but there's not much coming up anymore, I guess that's good - and his shaking is coming down a little.

Poor little frigger...

I just hope he gets better. Do you have any way to administer IV fluids? He might be becoming dehydrated.

Well here it is 10 hours later. He vomited several - several - times last night, a dark fluid with chunks of what on examination was mold. Yeah, mold.

This morning he's not shaking (though perhaps a little in his rear legs, though that could just be hunger and exhaustion), he's very hungry and thirsty, which is excellent, and his energy is quickly returning after a brief foray into the driveway into the sun and fresh air.

I suspect he ate something while I wasn't watching him for a few seconds, it was moldy, and the mold attacked his brain while his body tried desperately to get rid of it.

Thank you all for being here, even a note of support is so great.

dogs and their bellies

The University of Saskatchewan has a 24/7 emergency service that you could possibly call and talk to someone if need be. Here's a link to their page.
