Default Susie

Maybe an odd question but Susie who is a Bernese cross and usually sheds all year, is not shedding at all. I took her in last week to the Doggy Daycare to give her a bath. They have a ramp up into a bathtub at a perfect height and a ramp up onto a grooming table. They have a high velocity dryer which is cool air and usually it blows hair everywhere. Not a single hair came out. When the owner came in, she looked around and said where is the hair?

Every other time I have bathed her, there is hair everywhere. Why would she not be shedding at all?

I have no idea. Maybe someone with more experience with dogs will see this and answer too.
Don't knock it though lol

I had understood that Bernese's were fairly high shedders, what is she crossed with? I don't think I have ever heard of any disorders of not shedding, just the opposite. Perhaps its a blessing in disguise!

As near as the people I got her from could figure, it was the neighbors Border Collie x Lab cross who was the father. It has not been cold out and she has been sleeping in the house at night. She used to sleep outdoors until the weather got really cold (her choice) but this year she has wanted inside so sleeps beside Kris' crate at night on her bed.

It has been going down to 30F at night so I could understand it if she was sleeping outside but I keep my house fairly warm. I am not complaining as it is nice to not have hair everywhere, just unusual.

I don't have knowledge either but her body could be adopting to the weather, maybe just enjoy the moment of freedom from hair.
