Default We are excited

Sir Moose, our Great Pyrenees is 10 1/2 yers old. About a year ago he was diagnosed with liver disease. Would not eat the hepatic dog food. ..dry or canned. I would follow him around and stick kibble or wet in his mouth and sometimes he ate it, sometimes he spat it out. He wouldn't not even come into the kitchen to check out food pan. In fact as time went on he showed little interest in anything.

I started cooking for him and he ate. I guess his stomached shrunk because he didn't eat much at a time. But as time went on he started eating more for both meals. He was in the kitchen when he thought it was time for me to cook his supper, watching me, ears perk. Showed interest in everything and wanted the longer walks. He had been 115 pound, but had dropped to 798 pounds by the first part of Nov. On top of his meals, he gets a single slice of bread with a very thin layer of peanut butter on it in the afternoon, and two bit spoons of cottage cheese at bed time, plus the treats Imake for him.

We had him in when I got out of the hospital to get naisl clipped--and he was up to 88 pounds. Had put on 10 pound in two months. They want him at no more than abut 95 pounds for join protection. He gets organic milk thistle in his food, plus 1 tablespoon of organic coconut oil in his supper. His cot is so soft it is unreal. Coconut oil is so good for skin and coat, and I understand een for heart and eyes. Things could trun around tomorrow, but for now we are really excited at the 10 pound gain. Oh, and when we er there the receptionist and tech said he was "realy spunky" and lively. So different than just a few months ago.

It is surprising how with special care, which you are giving him, how some older dogs can bounce back. Glad to hear he is doing so much better.

Thanks all. HE has so much more stamina now. He loves to go for rides and the other day he got his morning walk and then we were going over r to the cable company in the next town (our cable ha not been right synced the hurricane) and we took him. It is 5 miles over, and then I was in there about 10 minutes and we took a longer route home. He never laid down in the back seat, but stood with hose out the window. We put it down enough his nose, but not his head can be out. A few months ago he would have laid down while I was in the cable place, and most likely on way home.
