Default Dog walking in the cold chart

Petplan has put together a chart that ostensibly tells you when it is too cold to walk your dog.
We have been fortunate enough (cough, cough) to have just had almost two weeks of temperatures below freezing and until today my two were in no hurry to go out at all!

Mine aren't interested in going out in the cold except for potty time. We're having weather in the fifties now and are even going to have a couple of days in the 70's. However now they are telling us that we will have several more days of freezing and below weather Friday through Sunday. So sick of this weather!!!

Cold isn't usually our problem except in December (go figure!).
Rascal doesn't really like to go out when it's raining. Then she likes to come back in an jump on out laps
It was raining earlier today but stopped now. Nice and wet out for a short legged dog

Timi had a rough couple of days in the awful cold. I couldn't find his regular hoodie to put on him each time he went out (at least four times a day!!) and I had to use of one Cheynie's old ones for a few days until I managed to find his. I spent an awful lot of time this cold snap doing laundry... because the hood was too big for him... and because he is a male... and because it had to be washed, dried, and ready to put on him every few hours! I was so happy when I found his!

Laundry is another thing that I hate about frigid weather. No matter whether it's 2 or 4 legged family members, it seems like my laundry basket is always over flowing with sweaters, sweatshirts, blankets.

This has been a cold winter here. Last yer we had 2 nights blow freezing--got down to 22 those two nights and we call it our "Two Day Winter." Don't think we even hit freezing the year before But this year has bene awful.....lots of freezing nights and days in the lower to mid 30's.We snow once every 30 years. In 2004 we had the Miracle Snow on Christmas Eve/Christmas Day morning (about 5", but on Dec. 8 of 2017, we got another unexpected snow--woke up to 4".

Cold doesn't bother Sir Moose. Of course Great Pyrenees were bred to guard herds and flocks in all kinds of weather. Have a super thick undercoat and then fur about 3" long--and his seems thicker than ever before. And he wants his morning walk. Monday morning it was 26 with wind chill of 13 and Jerry took him, as usual. Jerry had on heavy winter coat which is rarely worn, a ski mask to cover face, and gloves. And Sri Moose wanted to go on the longest walk. Jerry ws frozen when they got back, but Sir Moose wanted to go out and lay on patio. He LOVS this cold weather and when he knows it is walk time he bounces around like he has springs on his feet.

We had below zero F temperatures in December but now have a bit of a thaw but still getting snow. The dogs appreciate the "warmer" weather but still do not stay out very long, especially the little dogs as they get cold feet. It does freeze every night but not as cold during the day. This is the first time since I have lived here (over ten years) that my water pipes froze but luckily I caught it before any damage was done.

The only one the cold never seems to bother is Kris, my Doberman. I have a coat for her but have never used it as she never seems to get cold and has quite a thick coat for a Doberman in the winter probably because she was born way up north.
