Default Dog ate baby back rib whole?

Hey, new guy here

My half pit just ate a baby back rib; bone and everything. Swallowed the thing whole! Was this a mistake? I thought i was just going to give him a nice treat; thinking he'd just pick off the meat. I'm not sure if the bone will cause problems.

Do you think the bone will pass naturally or might it back up his digestion? Please let me know!

Worried Dog Owner,

Clayton T.

(P.S. Here's the culprit . . . . he's tiny, 30lbs and not getting any bigger.)

Welcome to Dogforum.org.

Since he did not chew it into bits you should be ok just keep an eye on him.

Just a note of caution for you, never feed your dog cooked bones, RAW are ok. Cooked bones are brittle and will splinter but raw bones do not and will digest for the most part causing no problems. Even the ones you can buy in the stores can be dangerous.

Tell me about it, never again! I got my dog a steilised one last week & he snapped the tip off one of his teeth I'm so furious it will probably go against him at shows now, I is not a very happy bunny.

I think you just made him a happy doggy, and took some of the plaque off his teeth to boot!
