Well, it seems I am going to be getting a Golden Retriever. My niece's son got the dog when it was a puppy but being a teen-ager and getting his first car (even though he won't be old enough to drive it for a while yet) he has lost interest in the dog and the dog is getting out and running around the neighborhood.
Yesterday was the final straw when he got out and was picked up by the pound. It cost them $168.00 to get him back. He is also in danger of getting run over which would be a shame as he is a really nice dog. He is about 9 months old and is not neutered yet so that is probably part of the problem. Originally I was going to get him in a couple of weeks but he will probably be coming tomorrow or the next day now. It is about a six hour drive to where he is so my brother-in-law is going to go and pick him up for me. I am hoping he will get along with my two males until I get a chance to have him neutered. I have sort of been looking for a big dog that I can do Obedience and Agility with but did not want to get a puppy so "Case" might just be what I am looking for. Not sure what training he has had but have met him a couple of times and he seems like a nice dog. |

Congratulations! What a wonderful thing you are doing giving this dog a home and I just love golden retrievers. He is one very lucky dog to be able to have a home with you and I bet he is going to be very happy with all of his new family. I hope we get to see plenty of pictures--what is his name?

Exactly what Dee and I said, he is a teenager and also a boy with lots of other interests. The dog is alone all day while he is in school so lots of time to get into mischief. My niece does not live there as they are divorced so he is living with his Dad right now who is away at work all day.

Good for you
![]() There are a good handful of golden retrievers that do agility, and some go on to win really high titles. I'm sure with a neuter and proper training and attention, he will be great with you!
