I like hearing about other people's dogs and the silly things they do.
Oats is a super quirky dog and it's a huge reason why I love him. One of my favorites that he does is whenever we train and I use really good treats, when I finish the lesson and tell him "all done", he whines and tries to pick up all his toys in his mouth at once and then drops them all at my feet. He will spend a lot of time positioning and stacking the toys to make sure he can hold them all before he picks them up! What are some silly or cute things that your dogs do??? |

Well, Tigger "yells" at me :P When he's hungry or wants something, he does this thing that is like a mix of a howl and a growl and a bark all in one. It's kinda funny. We've been going to agility classes and when waiting for our turn to try something, he'll be watching the other dogs do it and turn back to yell at me as if he's being impatient and wants it to be HIS turn already.
I'm sure he does a ton of other quirky things, but I'm just so used to it that it doesn't strike me as weird anymore ![]()

My dog thinks everything else that moves wants to play with him. He often play bows at things that move..literally. One day I saw him playbowing at a bunny in the yard. Of course, the bunny RAN but he still tried. He playbows at his goodies, and when were are on the beach - at waves coming up on the shore. He's just very playful. I do love seeing his little butt go up in the air

My Chi, Scooter, has his mind set on when he wants to go to bed. He does sleep in bed with me, but he can't jump up on the bed. He's too small, and the bed is way to high for him. When he wants to go to bed, he finds me, and stands up on my calf. That's about as high as he can reach. He will use his front paws and "push off" and make funny little noises. Then I ask him if it's time for bed, and he runs around in circles until I pick him up and put him on the bed. Nope, he is not spoiled at all.

Well Nipper when she is 'waiting' on her mat for a treat will get up and spin round a couple of times ( on the mat) before she drops in lie down posistion
Another thing she does when a toy is put away out of her reach she will bark at us and and stand up then sit with a uplifted paw! Quite funny to watch Oh and when she is out on walk if she is trying to eat grass and I go to her to move her on she will wait till the last min when I am close to her then she will 'dart' off to the next patch and repeat what she did earlier! So wondering why especialy on the treat thing why does she spin round on the mat and then lie down! Is it something she does to impress us so she is guaranteed the treat?

Bigboy, both of my dogs spin round before lying down. Casey used to "scratch" at the floor, circle, and then lay down. They are "making their beds" so to speak. I'm sure a trainer could explain it better.

When Rascal sees us getting ready to go for a walk, she starts howling in excitement.
We've got a good 'sit' going now. I am looking forward to teaching other things now. 'Lie down' is not yet in the picture but it will get there When we told one of our vets we were taking Rascal to obedience class she just laughed shook hubby's hand and said 'Good luck' techie

When I'm training Frodo to do something new he will go through his whole repertoire to see which one will get him a treat!

Techie -- I've been shaping my dog's lie down and he plops himself on the ground and it's just lovely-looking because he just lies down without moving his feet! I vow from now on to try to shape every down for my future dogs just because of Oats! It started with nothing more than a small dip of the head.
When I train Oats, he is very careful and calculated in all of his movements. Once he figures something out, he gets zoomies like he's "WHOOHOOO I GOT IT!" Whenever guests come over, he gets his suckle-bear out and sucks on its face while standing up. The guests usually ask what he's doing since they never saw a dog do that before. We let him have it for when guests come over because it's a coping mechanism. I should try filming it to demonstrate since he does it a lot. |

It would be interesting to hear what the trainers on here think!
