Default How much to license your dog?

What does it cost in your area to license your dog? Where I live it the fee for unneutered male and unspayed female dogs is $18 ($15.00 plus a $3 New York State mandated spay/neuter fee). The fee for neutered and spayed dogs is $10 ($9.00 plus a $1 New York State mandated spay/neuter fee) with a valid veterinarian spay/neuter certificate.
I read in today's news that in NYC the costs are being raised for unspayed and non-neutered dogs. The licensing fee for non- spayed or neutered dogs from $11.50 to $34 which has many people upset.

For all dogs, intact or otherwise, it costs $20 for a three year license. The rabies shot is available on a walk in basis six days a week for $1 additional charge. Microchips are $15. It doesn't get better, cheaper, or easier, does it? The facility is huge, clean, and attractive.

Are all these services handled at the same facilty? NYS has recently decentralized licensing procedures moving them from the aegis of the NYS Dept of Agriculture and Markets to local town governments which also allows the town to set up its own fee schedule. At the state level a database was maintained but I haven't yet heard how that is going to be handled locally.

Yup, at our county facility. Other counties have their own. But, NYC is so much more massive. I can't imagine. Where I live, it's "big city" but not like NYC! Plus, everyone drives here- public transportation is virtually non-existent, it's too hot to walk anywhere, and it's all sub-urban sprawl for much of the county except down-town regions. So, one facility works out. Many people just get the license from their vet, directly. Vets are required to issue a license with every rabies shot they administer. However, it's SO MUCH cheaper to go directly to animal control to get the shot. No exam fee/office visit, and $1 shot.

No license requirements here. Shots are required though. At least...I don't think there are license requirements!

There used to be licence fee in uk I think it was really cheap too around 7 old shillings (35p). I think it should come back in the uk at a higher rate. The money could go towards helping over stretched shelters etc that get little or no money or who have had their budgets cut. ATB
