Default Carob is ok, yes?

I make my own dog treats. I wanted to make them a little fancy. I am going to melt some carob and dribble it over the treats or dip one end. It contains 10g of sugar per tbs but will get less than half of that. Thoughts anyone?

According to "The Daily Puppy" carob is safe for dogs:

It's the sugar content that would worry me So if you could try less Carob in the mix (per tbs) or melt some doggie chocolate drops and use that instead!!! They do sound very nice though

Thank you both. I've never heard of dog doggie chocolate drops? if I use carob they will get very little as I don't like the sugar content either. I'm only going to drizzle or dip. I will read the link and look for doggie chocolate drops.

Dunny is jealous. He's never had such fancy treats.

All Major supermarkets should stock them or large pet stores!
Good luck!

I am reading the label more clearly now and it states beet sugar. I'm reading conflicting reports advise anyone? I may return it.

The largest supermarket here did not carry chocolate or carob. that's why I went to the farmers market last night. They tend to have healthier items but only had bags of carob in the baking aisle. pet store was out as well and they only carry carob. Carob it is..........

When you make the mix for the biscuit (treat) do not add any sugar atall or salt to the mix! You the could put a small amount of carob along the length of the treat or just dip both ends of the treat in to the melted carob so the middle part is not covered! NB: Sugar comes from the beet which is obviously part of the plant that is then processed in to sugar bleaching agent are added to make it white! I often use brown sugar which doesn't contain any bleaching and is better for you
