I am very glad to hear that will be nationwide. My local PetCo stopped selling treats from China I think just before this summer. Have you heard if Petsmart is doing this too? They are also a popular chain around here.

Petsmart says they will complete the switch over this spring. Glad I go to Petco. We have a new Petsmart in our area, but It's a small one and everything is crammed in too much for my tastes.

If I go three minutes south on the road that connects to my neighborhood, there is a smaller, but very well-stocked Petco; the one I usually go to because it's so close and convenient. If I go a half mile north on the same main road there is both a Petco and a Petsmart on the cross street within a half mile of each other. They are both large stores but Petco does seem to have more stock. The Petsmart has A Banfield vet facility in it but you can't go a mile in any direction without passing a veterinary practice so I don't know how well they do.

Glad to know Petsmart is going to stop selling treats from China too. I don't remember seeing a public announcement on it and to be honest I haven't checked my store because when people ask for treat/chew recommendations I just direct them to what I use/know is safe and isn't made in China.

I use to shop at petco mainly for what I needed and also when getting Miya groomed but I don't go there anymore for a few reasons;
-I really don't need anything from there. The food miya eats I have to buy online because no local place sells it. The chews I get for Miya are about the same price/cheaper at petsmart and petsmart is closer.
-I stopped taking her to the groomers there because well...the main groomer hates me and Miya always looked terrible after I took her there(It looked like they did a half attempted job at grooming here and called it good).

Petco does have a good(and wider) selection of supplies/food though.

I don't think PetSmart is bad either. They have some supplies that petco doesn't(same for Petco, where they have stuff Petsmart doesn't). PetSmart has this one chew that Miya loves and she gets once every few months and I haven't been able to find it anywhere else. I think each store has good parts to offer(Banfield has good deals that can help with families who have a low income).

Anyway, kind of got off track. It's good both stores will stop selling treats from China and hopefully until then all employees are educated and can explain why treats from China are bad choices and direct customers to better choices for treats.
