Default Yorkie dog 1 1/2 years old is picky and won't eat

My Yorkie is really picky and really is tough to get to eat. She recently had a seizure due to her lack of eating. Anyone have any suggestions as to what to feed her to get her to eat????

Default Yorkie

Kodah is 1 1/2 years old. I feed her a gluten free grain food my husband picked up right now. I have tried many different foods and this has been going for probably 6-8 months.

Hi cambam, i too have picky eater, i have found that if i have added fish oils or a bit of cooked meat to her food..she still eats really slow but eats which is the main thing. I also make my own food for my dogs..they love a homemade dinner; but eat kibble the rest of the day

Kodah won't eat the kibbles anymore. I have tried hamburger and rice, chicken and scrambled eggs the last few days and she eats a little and then won't touch it again.

Have you been to your vet about this as she may have a medical condition causing what you say is picky eating habits or does she eat treats ok? I would still talk to your vet about this problem! If your vet says she isn't ill in any way then tough love is probably the best way forward on this Eg: you put her food down and after 20 - 30 mins (8 months is a long time so this habit needs correcting) if there's no interest remove bowl off floor then offer the food again in about 1hr and repeat as necessary etc, etc. Remember a 'Healthy' Dog won't starve it's self Please let us know what your vet says!

I have tried canned food but she isn't interested in that. I will talk to the vet and keep everyone updated. Thank you
