Stewart dog food-

Today I found some packaged 'raw' food at petsmart. It's basically patties with protein(meat)+vegetables/fruits that need to be thawed out before been given to a dog.

I'm just wondering if anyone has heard of the Stewart brand of food or have tried it themselves?

If so, did you like/dislike it?

I also found that they have freeze dried 'dry' food.

I wanted to eventually switch my dog over to eating raw, but, I am still looking into it. Trying to find a source to get what I'd need for feeding raw to her from. I wanted to feed her myself by doing all the adding, getting the meat/otherwise myself.

Anyway, here is the website for the Stewart dog food: Natural Dog Food | grain free dog food, raw dog food | stewartpet.com

Ama, I have never heard of Stewart's raw food before. I used to feed my dogs Nature's Variety raw. They loved it. I ended up switching back to kibble because the pet store where I bought it, was not putting it in their freezer when they should have. I noticed that the patties were loaded with freezer burn, which means the meat was defrosted or part defrosted already. If it wasn't for that, I'd still be feeding raw today.

Ack, that definitely isn't good. I wonder if I would be able to order raw food/prepacked foods online and have it just shipped to my house.

You probably can. Just check the price for shipping and handeling. It may be expensive, because they have to pack it in dry ice, or those freezer packs.

mm, yeah. That's what I was thinking about. That it would have to be packaged specially. I figured they would just ship it like a grocer ships the food that needs to be kept frozen/cooled. Hm.

Yeah, like Omaha steaks. My Sister sends me their specials, and the shipping is very expensive unless you order a lot. Then they waive the shipping.

My suggestion would be to google it for your local area, and see if there is a local supplier, I am lucky where I live I have 2 choices, one with a store front and the other that delivers directly to you. Nothing against chain stores but the poor handling is always a concern. The store here is very professional when you enter and you can tell they take pride in their product as well as their work. Price wise, I really don't notice a difference.
