Default Agility trials

Just finished filling out my entries for the upcoming trials and they are all close together. Aug. 24/25, 30/31st,Sept. 1st, Sept. 14/15 and 28/29. Then there are no more trials this year except for one in November (the only indoor trial we have).

I have Remmy entered in all of them but just entered Lucy in the one Jumping class, one Snooker class, at our local trial on Aug. 24/25. I will be camping at all the other trials in my fifth-wheel trailer and will probably take Kris with me for the socialization. Going to be a busy time for a while. Except for the local one, they are all about a 2-3 hour drive.

I am bound and determined to get his last two Advanced Snooker Q's so he can get his Advanced Games Title but if not, we will have fun anyway.

Default Good luck!

Good luck to you!

We are off to a NADAC agility trial in Bowling Green, KY this weekend. I've entered an AKC trial in Louisville over Labor Day Weekend. I am torn on what to do after that, Layla is getting into Open in most runs in NADAC, but now she will finally (usually) do the tetter-totter, so that gives me some AKC hope. There's another AKC in September in Ohio that I'm considering since the next NADAC in Kentucky won't be until October; but $$$ can only go so far.

I envy you guys with the campers! Some people in our agility class have those and they have a lot of fun with them. Though one lady says her two standard poodles are bed hogs.

I am finding that, especially after our last NADAC trial, the agility bug is really hitting me. I seriously love running my dog. I'm realizing that I'm middle aged though, I am up to four miles a day for our dog walk (which doesn't phase my BC mix at all of course) but I have gotten very sore combining that with extra agility practice lately. I'm going to cut down on my walking time to get ready for the weekend since I've entered Layla in EVERY RUN. LOL, I love this stuff! Such a high when you finish a run with your dog and you absolutely know she just nailed it, and so does she. Of if not, then by golly she looked good until that last missed contact!

I have one video of my sweet Layla doing agility on youtube. This is from the only AKC trial we've been to.

Can't wait until this weekend.

Layla and you look really good. Don't worry about your age, I am in my 70's and still doing it. Must admit it is getting harder all the time but I have small dogs except for Kris, my Doberman who I will be starting in Agility after Christmas when she is old enough. Agility keep us young and active and is so much fun for us and the dogs and is really addictive.

Good luck to both of you! I love watching agility videos. It amazes me how dog and handler are "one". I hope both of you can take lots of pictures or videos for all of us to see.

That's wonderful! Proof that enjoying something active keeps us young.

Doberman's are such noble dogs, very athletic too. Looking forward to pics of her.

Being a slow person with a fast dog is forcing me to use my brain, Layla is starting to get some distance and I'm beginning to actually work in front crosses, LOL. When we started I never thought I'd be seeing anything but my dog's cute little butt out there.

Went to the Agility trial today. It was perfect weather, clouded over but no rain so better than the 30 degree weather we have been having. Remmy did his usual zoomie run the first class, did all the obstacles at least twice but not in the order he should have. He has so much fun, you really have to just let him have his run. His second class was really good, a Gambler class. He got lots of points in the opening but in the closing there were two tunnel mouths opposite each other but you had to bring him down to the other mouth. Of course, Remmy could not resist it so we did not Q. Good class, just the same. His last class was right at the end of a long day and he was getting tired but still gave it a good shot.

It was Lucy's first trial so I just had her in Starter Jumpers and she did really well. We had a clean run but since she waited on me a couple of times we were 4 seconds too slow. Once she knows she can carry on without me, we should do really well. I was really pleased with her as nothing bothered her and she stayed focused on me the whole time. She had not seen a big long curved tunnel since spring but just took them in her stride.

It sounds both you and the dogs had a wonderful time and I am glad to hear the weather cooperated. I bet Remmy looked adorable with the zoomies and congratulations to Lucy.

It would be fun to watch Remmy with the zoomies! I am glad Lucy did well too.

It sounds like you had a great time with your pups! Remmy with the zoomies? Now that would have been a great video!

My classes today were almost the last of the day. Lucy did not get much of a run in the Snooker class as I am so used to Remmy and did not bring her far enough out of the tunnel before I turned so she went back in which of course, finished that class. She was really good on the obstacles she did get to take.

Remmy used up all his energy in the Jumpers class so was a little slow in his Snooker class and just missed Q-ing by one jump. Pleased with both of them though. Now have three days next weekend for another trial with just Remmy. Didn't get a chance to video any of my runs.

I am not going to trial Lucy now till next year but it was a really good experience for her. She started out barking at every dog but gradually settled down and started to ignore them. She never barked in the ring, just focused on doing the Agility. I want to work more on sending her as she is really fast and I don't want to slow her down.
