Default Manners Minder

Our Agility instructor has ordered one of these. Has anyone else used them? It will be interesting to see if they really work like they say they do or will make it harder to phase out the treats.

Wow. Interesting.. I'd be asking the same question as kyllobernese... Will it be harder to phase out treats?

I think if you want to use that device, then whoever is using it should already know how to manage the reinforcement. I think it would not be much of a problem about phasing out treats if you use it as a distraction for the dog while you work without treats on you. You can use it to start to teach the dog that distractions, if ignored, can become rewards if the dog works with you. Like all training, it depends on how it is being used.

Agility trainers are finding many uses for the Manners Minder. I haven't used it myself, but if I were to train running contacts, it would be my method of choice. I haven't heard of anyone having problems fading the MM. You'll have fun playing with it whether it works for your team or not.
