Ion's first AKC Agility Legs
This weekend was spent running agility... thanks to the shortened daylight it literally was dawn til dusk since I have Ashenpaw in Excellent class and Ion starting out in Novice. This was Ion's second trial, his first was outdoors a few months and he did great but we were just shy of Qualifying. This weekend, however, he ran four times--a Standard and a Jumpers with Weaves run each day and we Q'd 3 out of 4 runs! His Jumpers were flawless 100pts, and we only had a 5 pt Refusal error in the Standard. Extremely proud of him. We reworked his issues after the first trial and they paid off. All bars stayed up all weekend for both boys, only one weave pole issue the entire weekend, focus and start lines were better, and NO fly off on the teeter!

Below are his Q'ing runs:
Ion and his ribbons--before this shot he was trying to eat them.
The Brass Pack after the trial with a very tired me.

Congrats on a fun weekend!!! I crated next to a collie at our show this weekend. He was wonderful, and I almost stole him and took him home with me. :) Ion looks mighty proud, and congrats on Ash's accomplishments from this weekend too.

Both of my boys just love running with me. :) And I am proud of how great they look out there even when things don't go according to plan... A.K.A the Border Collie Loop. ;) Agilityk9trainer knows that ref as she made it elsewhere. Stuff happens when you do something this complicated, you end up risking getting humbled by dog big time out there. ;) We laugh, we cheer, we squeal in delight, we let others cry on our shoulders when things fall apart... I love this sport because the majority of those running want to see their competitors succeed (you should hear the sympathetic groans that come when a mistake happens!) There are highs and lows and everything in-between and when you start out success often isn't at defined finitely as a Q... there are often mini-goals within the runs we just want to see. If we nail enough of those, the Q's follow.
