Cool An Agility Experience!

Agility people are a tough breed! And a little crazy too. Up here today we had scattered showers and thunderstorms rolling through the region. Did that effect the trial? Nope... just delayed things a tad. When the rain poured down so much you couldn't see across the field everyone ducked under their tents. Once it clear--GAME ON! After a while a second one hit with thunder and a little lightning... we were back under the tents grinning and sweet talking our dogs. Yup. We're a tough breed!

Ash's first run <after the 1st down pour> was jumpers with weaves. We got an NQ due to some issues with the weaves (popped the first time, entered wrong the 2nd and 3rd), after that he knocked a bar on #9. Otherwise, the run looked great! And my front crosses were MUCH more comfortable compared to last year.

The next deluge hit with a massive amount of flooding rain and thunder right before our class. Ash was sopping wet (soggy bottom boy) as the tent leaked on him... I was wet too. We got out there for our standard run and he was AWESOME! The only issue was popping the last pole (again) however I did lean forward which likely pulled him out. He nailed it on the second time through. 100pt run, 58sec on 72 run time, and 1st place!

Me in my tent.

Tough agility people during the BIG downpour!

Great work!! Grats on a good, fun day.

Doesn't Ash have arthritis? You can see it when he runs. Hind hips I'm thinking? Agility is good for him, and he's not pushing overly hard to make it harder on him. He's got a very safe speed for arthritis. Good for him for running out there, and doing so well!!

We won't trial outdoors here. We're spoiled and insist on being indoors. We're in an air conditioned indoor large soccer facility this weekend with a sports bar/grill in it. The soccer pitches are awesome, and probably my all time fave surface. It was 101 yesterday and stormed very badly today. WE don't care.

Grats on some good, fun runs.

Yes, Ash has arthritis. It's in his knees, actually. And the vet very much so encourages us to keep running, also why we're in Preferred class. I am very proud of him today. Given the weather he was awesome!

Draco, I sure wish more people knew that dogs with arthritis need to stay active, just like people with arthritis. Thanks again for the videos! I love watching them.

Wow, fantastic pics and videos.

Reminds me of when I had horses.....the events have to go on, regardless of weather. Especially in England!!

Out at the showsite for day #2... today it is colder, but at least not dripping with downpours of rain. It's windier too which means the tarps we bought for the tent yesterday (and really wish we'd HAD yesterday during the show) are up to block some of the wind gusts. Have quite some time before my 1st run. We'll see how we fair today. JWW looks nice and flowy...which CAN backfire with a twitchy dog like Ash. And the STD looks tight on the map... have to see how it sets up later this afternoon.

I do, if nothing else than to be able to learn from my mistakes.
