Default Remmy

This weekend is our first Agility trial since Remmy had his seizure on July 15th at his last trial. He has seemed perfectly fine and as I don't know what caused it I am, of course, a little concerned. As it happened after his first class and only doing a few obstacles, I don't know that the Agility had anything to do with it.

The trial is in our hometown so if something does happen, I am only minutes from the Vet office. He has been racing around and nothing he has done has brought a seizure on so ???

Our weather has been off and on, either really hot or cloudy like today and sprinkling rain so hard to say what the weather will be like.

Good luck this weekend with Remmy. I'm glad to hear he has had no more seizures. Let us know how it goes.

I'm glad the weather back there is better! Hope Remmy has no more seizures too and it was just a one time thing.

Kyllobernese that is great news and a agility trial to take part in as well, i would air with caution in the agility trial Yes take part but don't over do it even if your Remmy is capable in doing the tasks asked of him! Baby steps is a good WTG on this if anything to rule out the seizures and the cause(s) Out of interest was there loads of flash cameras at the last agility day? Have fun and it doesn't matter if you don't make the say the top slot at least you have had fun Good luck ATB

If this helps you feel any better:

A lady I know has a BC that only has seziures at one agility site. She believes there's something there that triggers them - a chemical or something. I know you'll do a good ob watching Remmy at the trial.

This morning Remmy had another seizure. It is almost 6 weeks since he had the first one. He was very restless last night, up on the bed, onto his chair, down on the floor and finally settled down on his chair.

I woke up at 5:30 with him puking on the bed. I picked him up to put him outside but he felt a little stiff so put him outside the door and stood and watched him. He just lay there, didn't walk out onto the grass like I expected. I picked him up and brought him into the house. He puked once more, then just gently rolled over stiffly on his side and his eyes got starey but only for a few seconds. I put a blanket around him and sat down with him on my lap until I felt him relax. In half an hour he was back to normal. I gave him a little canned dog food and he cleaned it up, then started playing with Monty like nothing had happened.

I have read up on seizures as much as I could and it seems like it is very hard to figure out what the cause is. I haven't done any Agility with him till this week and then only for literally about ten minutes on Monday and yesterday. He has raced around playing when we went for a walk a lot more than he did doing Agility so don't think it can be the Agility.

I don't know if taking him to the Vet today will provide any answers, if I can even get him in. I don't know what they can even test him for.

The trial this weekend is about a twenty minute drive from home and he has two Advanced Standard classes on Saturday. I am going to go ahead with it but will scratch him if he is not acting perfectly normal. This is the only trial that is not at least a two hour drive and an overnight stay before the trial so he should be alright if he is going to be.

I hope you can figure this out! Wish Remmy could talk too! Is it hot and humid there?

It has been a little muggy out but I did not do any Agility until around 7 pm last night so it had cooled down and he was not puffing or panting when I finished. It was not hot out at the trial when he had his first seizure either and it was an outdoor trial so didn't seem to be anything to cause it.

The throwing up was something different this time, although the actual seizure was the same except his stare and not being aware only lasted a few seconds this time. Although he felt rigid, he kept making eye contact with me but did not try and move.

It doesn't always happen at agility does it? It's difficult to dertimine the cause if only our dogs could tell us what's happening in thier lives it would make things much easier for us to help them! Good luck at the weekend though be sure to stop the agility at the slightest hint that he may be having a problem ATB
